Page 10 GRAND PRAIRIE DAILY NEWS Monday, March 10, 1975 Local high schools to attend Science Day Dr. Thomas W. Huseby, head of materials engineering and chemistry at Bell Laboratories in Atlanta, will be the featured speaker for Southwestern Bell's annual Science Recognition Day program March 14 in Dallas. Outstanding science students and their teachers from Northeast Texas high schools, including Grand Prairie and South Grand Prairie High Schools, have been invited to attend. Dr.

Huseby will speak on "Oil, Energy, Plastics and Communications." He is responsible for the development and testing of materials for Bell Stystem wire and cable applications. The program will also include Southwestern Bell Engineer Lynda Stair who will discuss computers and Dr. James Midgley, associate professor of the division of atmospheric and space sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas, who will talk to the students on "Preparing for a Career in the Sciences." According to Andy Anding, local manager for the telephone company, the purpose of Science Recog- nition Day is to encourage students academically and show them the opportunities availalble in science and engineering careers. The program is held each year to commemorate the anniversary of Alexander Graham Bell's birth 3. After joining Bell Labs in 1961, Dr.

Huseby worked on injection molding and mold design for plastic materials. He then turned to applied research in rheology of polymer melts and thermodynamic studies of polymers. Dr. Huseby received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from Purdue Univerisity, his M.S.

degree in plastics engineering from Princeton University and his Ph.D degree in aerospace and mechanical Huseby is a member of the science also from Prince- American Physical Society, ton the Society of Rheology and The author of a number the Society of Plastic Engi- of technical articles. They include Barbara Scott, who has lived in Grand Prairie for seven year, and Joe Doucet, who has lived here most of his life. Mrs. Scott, attended Wayne University in Detroit, Mich, and is a graduated Pharmacy Procedure School and Draughan's Business College, both in San Antonio. DOUCET attended Sam Houston Elementary, John Adams Junior High, Grand Prairie High, University of Houston, and is now attending UTA, majoring in economics. He and his wife Carolyn live in Arlington but plan on moving here soon.

Library film set The Grand Prairie Memorial Library has released the titles of 45-minute programs presented at 11 a.m. every Saturday for school-age children. Included in the presentations are films, stories, songs and puppet shows. The following programs will be presented this month: March Red A boy and a red balloon and the adventures they have. "Tuktu and Ten Thousand Fishes." An Eskimo boy watches his father spear fish.

March 22 "Not So Easy." Safety in bike riding is the theme of this film. March 29 Special Easter program.
