REMINGTON Mrs Sylvia Shalkhauser 73 of Remington died at 6:45 am Wednesday in Home Hospital Lafayette She was a native of Remington In 1936 she was married at Chenoa Ill to Armin Shalkhauser who survives Mrs Shalkhauser was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church Goodland and Ladies Aid of the church Surviving with the husband are a son Rex Shalkhauser of Remington three brothers Arthur and heating degree days since uly 1 86 Woman reports she was raped A 25 year old woman told police a man forced her and her 3 year old son into a car in rural Tippecanoe County and raped her Wednesday The woman who lives in rural Tippecanoe Coun ty told police she had been thrown out of another car before the incident Police believe the area was near Shadeland Rd around County Road 100 A man in a yellow car with loud mufflers drove up and displayed a small gun forcing the woman and her 3 year old son into his car She said the rhan threw her son into the back seat of the car and then raped her After the incident the man released her and she walked back to her home The woman was treated at Home Hospital and released The woman told Tippecanoe County police of ficers the incident occurred during daylight hours Wednesday She reported it to police at 8:52 pm The suspect was described as a thin man in his 30s with short dark brown hair The incident re mains under investigation Two Lafayette businesses were shortchanged Wednesday night bilking cashiers out of a total of $3020 Eisner ood Store 2315 Main St and 510 Sagamore Parkway were the businesses hit At Eisner a man bought a pack of cigarettes and ended up walking out the door with an extra $2020 The Lafayette Police Department received the call at 7:27 pm The suspect was described as a white male in his early 20s with a slender build dark shoulder length hair and a moustache He was wearing a yellow shirt while in the store The incident at was reported at 8:14 pm A man driving a red Oldsmobile Cutlass drove up to the window at and bought some food He drove away with an extra $10 police said The man was described as having dark hair and a moustache Rain and snow swept from the West to midsection early to ri ay while showers and thunderstorms covered the north central part of the country and showers continued over lorida Rain fell over Nevada and Utah and parts of the central Rockies west of the Continental woman injured in an accident Sept 19 is reported in but condition in the intensive care unit of Good Samaritan Hospital Vincennes A hospital spokesman said her condition con tinues to improve Clara
