Casual tops and AJit 2 bodies reported in valley LIHUE Kauai police today will helicopter Into Hanakoa Valley on Kauai's Na Pali Coast to check on a hiker's report he found two decomposed bodies in a sleeping bag in that valley. Police Capt. Richard L. Sheldon said police have little information other than that the bodies were found near the stream some distance off the trail that runs through Hanakoa. The hiker who found the skeletal remains brought out a knapsack, but police said there were no indications of the identity of the bodies in the pack.

Driver shot on way home UHUE A Kapahi man was shot as he drove home from work early yesterday when a car overtook his and five rounds were fired into his car from what might have been a Acaliber handgun. The victim, Abraham Honorato, 24, was being treated for a shoulder wound. Only one of the bullets hit him. Three were found in his car and a fifth struck a home across the street from where the shooting occurred. Honorato was shot about 3:30 a.m.

as he drove home from his job at the Kauai Resort Hotel. He continued driving after being shot and an ambulance was called when he reached his home. LIHUE Fire Department, Coast Guard, Navy and civilian search crews combed the Na Pali Coast shoreline yesterday after a Santa Barbara, man was seen washed to sea from Ilanaka-piai Beach. Fire Department spokesman William Enoka said Tom Ellis, 26, disappeared Thursday afternoon. Ellis had been walking near the beach earlier with Ronald McDougall, 20, of Red Deer, Canada, and they'd noted the roughness of the water, McDougall said later.

Shortly after 2 p.m. McDougall looked for Ellis and saw him struggling in the ocean and being beaten up against the cliffs on the Kalalau side of the Hanakapiat Beach. Ellis was still swimming when he disappeared around the point toward Kalalau with the prevailing current. McDougall ran the two-mile trail out of the valley to report the incident, but by the time firemen got into the air by helicopter and began searching the coast, there was no sign of anyone, Enoka said. A Coast Guard 40-footer stationed at Nawiliwili searched the area yesterday, along with Navy helicopters from the Pacific Missile Range Facility and commercial helicopters on their regular flights in the area.

Enoka said a large shark was seen in the area of Ellis's disappearance during the searching, but there was no evidence of any contact between the shark and the missing man. Dead student, 18, starved KEAAU, Hawaii Big Island police yesterday disclosed a Hilo College student whose body was found in an abandoned home near Kurtistown died from starvation. Doctors who performed an autopsy yesterday on Edward Maii, 18, of Iwasaki Camp in Puna said the man died of malnutrition about three days before a passerby found the body Thursday. Maii, identified as a student at Hilo College, was reported missing by members of his family Jan. 10.

Police and others had searched for the young man without success. Capt. Arthur Hoke of the Puna district said officers had even visited the residence where the body was found. Sources said the victim had become a recluse after a romance went sour. There were no signs of injury or foul play, investigators said.

The incident was classified by officers as an unattended death. bottoms for misses and juniors. Special 9.99 Choose from our polycotton voile blouse in assorted prints. Three different styles. Sizes S-l.
