Is there some way of restoring their original shape? N.J., Dana Point, Calif. Dear N.J.: If your hat has a floppy brim, chances are it's not a blocked hat and can be revived by pressing with a steam iron. Be sure to stuff the crown with tissue paper before you start. If the flowers are woven into the body of the hat or Dear Marylou: On doctor's orders, I used to buy support pantyhose from Lane Bryant, but they've been discontinued. I have tried support hose, but I cannot use them; as I need support to the waist.

Please try to find a store or a company that makes something similar to my queen-size seamless support pantyhose made of 85 per cent nylon and 15 per cent Lycra. S.T., Santa Fe, N.M. Dear S.T.: A spokesman for Lane Bryant recommends their total support pantyhose No. 663, made-of 80 per cent nylon and 20 per cent spandex, and priced at $5. Size IX fits women 4-feet-8 to 5-feet-2, with 35 to 45 inch hip measurement.

Clotheslines By Marylou if they are flat embroideries, you can press them with a steam iron.

If the flowers are applied to the hat or if they are raffia flowers, you should steam but not iron them. After steaming, try spraying your hat with a straw sizing or an all-purpose lacquer sizing. These products are available at California Supply 718 S. Hill Los Angeles, Calif. Dear Marylou: I have two pantsuits with matching back-zip tunic tops.

Since no one seems to be wearing the matching tunics now, do you have an idea on how to update the look? Both pantsuits are in beautiful fabrics, and at present I'm wearing the pants with other tops. R.B.M., Trenton, N.J. DEAR R.B.M.: It should be a fairly simple procedure to convert your tunic into a buttonless cardigan jacket as illustrated here. Begin by removing the back zipper and sewing up the center back seam. Next, remove the collar, if there is one, and then cut the tunic up the center front.

Shape each side of the front opening into a gentle continuing arc to the bustline, then straight from there to the hem. Face the raw edges or bind them with braid. Dear Marylou: Is dry cleaning prior to storage enough to keep moths away from wool garments or must one use moth crystals? Why do so many clothes now carry a label saying "Professionally dry-clean only" or "Do not use coin-operated cleaning for this J. T.W., Battle Creek, Mich. Dear J.T.W.: Dry-clean first, then, unless you have a mothproof cedar chest, use moth crystals.

Be sure to wrap your wool garments in tissue paper before storing. Plastic bags are not good because they prevent the fabrics from breathing, Clothes labeled "Professionally dry-clean only" or "Do not use co'n-oper-ated cleaning for this garment" are so marked to indicate that the fabric, the finishing treatment or the findings cannot be guaranteed if taken to a coin-operated cleaning establishment. The manufacturer who uses such a label must be able to prove to the Federal Trade Commission that coin-operated dry cleaning could harm the garment. Dear Marylou: About three years ago, my daughter brought me a beautiful wide-brim straw hat from Jamaica. It's decorated with straw flowers.
