8SAND MOUNTAIN NSWS, THURSDA Y.MARCH 19. 1987 Sibert's united in March ceremony i If Yv. A 1 Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sibert were united in holy matrimony In Fyffe March 7 with the Rev.

Wallace Ponder performing the ceremony. They were married In a simple ceremony with the grooms son, Tommy Sibert, serving as best man. The bride's daughter, Tlnd Rowan, served as matron of honor and the bride's grandson, Kenny Mitchell, served a9 ring bearer. The bride's oldest son, Michael Weatherly, gave the bride away. Eric Croft served as sollst and guitarist.

A small reception followed with daughter of the groom, Teresa Sibert, and daughter of the bride. Tamfnie Mitchell, and a close friend of the couple, Denise Otlnger, serving at the reception. The bride's other children. Roy and Johnny Sharp, were also present at the wedding. Close friends and family also attended.

Zion Baptist Church on Hwy 117 between Ider and Flat Rock for Mr. and Mrs. Hobson Perry given by their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It had been two month's since our last meeting, due to Christmas and bad weather. We were all glad to be together again. The president, Doris Watkins. asked Bro. Jimmy Graves to ask the blessing of the food before we sat down to a bountiful meal and good fellowship.

Mrs. Watkins called the meeting to order, and asked Bro. Graves to bless the meeting. The Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag was given in unison by all present. Sister Christine Chamblee, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and they were approved.

Sister Louise Whitmire, treasurer, gave the treasurers report. Election of Irene Broyles as a member was voted on and approved. Welcome, Sister Irene. Officers were elected for 1987. They were: President -Hazel Lester; vice-president -Jan Fuller; secretary -Christine Chamblee; treasurer Louise Whitmire.

Installation of officers will be held at Mahan Chapter at Henagar, March 27 at 7 p.m. All Past Matron'9 and Patron's AIFm 4th i 5 th are welcome and do bring a guest. We had good attendance this time with 19 members and two visitors. We would like to report that we had 100 member participation soon. Please, all members try to come out and be with us.

We always have good food and fellowship. Get well cards were asked for Marion Parham. Maggie Wilkins and Eula Carter. We hope they will be be feeling better soon, also Bro. Woodward Cook, who we miss greatly.

We hope he will soon be able to come and be with us. Mrs. Watkins announced she would be unable to attend the next meeting because she was going to Seattle, Washington to visit her daughter. We hope she has a wonderful trip. She turned the Charter over to Mrs.

Lester and asked if she would preside for her that night. Mrs. Lester graciously accepted. We all appreciate all the officers and they have done a magnificent job this year, and know the new one's will also do a fine job. Thank you, Doris, for being so devoted to our organizations as you are.

Mrs. Lester, president-elect, made1 a few appointments' which she will announce at the meeting in March. The meeting was adjourned in prayer. The club meets on the fourth Friday of every month. Please, members, come out and join us and bring a guest.

We will have an array of entertainment in the coming months. Some will be great fun and some will be very informative on different subjects. Ruth Reeves gave an Informative talk on Safety First, stressing the importance of fire extinguishers, strong ladders, first-aid kits and watchfulness in the use of all electric appliances and cords.

Marie Crabtree warned against combining different medications in one bottle in that there might be confusion on which to take. This is especially true when our eyesight is beginning to fail as with the elderly. She also read "Robbery, Assault and Rape" from an article in McCalls Magazine, giving hints on safety precautions against outside intruders. Good locks, not opening doors to strangers and never, never taking walks alone, especially at night. Present were Polly Lacy, Grace Chester, Betty Silver, Inez Tatum, Marie Crabtree.

Sue Hewitt, Nola Morelock, Ruth Reeves. Gladys Lee, Nettie Sewell and Ann Crowe. The next meeting will be announced. The Henagar Homemakers held their March meeting at the Henagar Town Hall with Marie Crabtree and Ruth Reeves as hostesses and Ann Crowe presiding. The devotion was given by Betty Silver using Matthew 17:20 and Nettie Sewell gave the prayer.

The pledge to the flag was led by Inez Tatum and our treasurers report was given by Gladys Lee. Members voted to send a check for $50 to Hope Place, a shelter for victims of domestic crimes such as child or wife abuse. Members are planning a bake sale to be held on May 9. We hope that those needing cakes and such for Mother's Day or decorations will please order from us. The following meetings were announced: District I meeting on March 16 at the Holiday Inn in Decatur; Sew-A-Rama.

This award is a prestigious honor very few students can ever hope to attain. In fact, the academy recognizes less than ten percent of all American High School students. Hughes, who attends Pisgah High School was nominated for this national award by Loretta Wright, a counselor at the school. He will appear in the United States Achievement Academy official yearbook, published nationally. Hughes is a junior at Pisgah High School, where he has maintained a grade point average of 3.67 out of a possible 4.0.

He is a member of the Beta Club, Science Club, Math Club. FCA, Toss Up Team, varsity football team, weight lifting team, and 4-H club, where he has won awards at local, county, district, state and national levels. He Is the son of Frank and Alta Hughes of Pisgah, the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. John H.
