By WAYNE HARADA Advertiser Entertainment Editor A regal voice of Hawaii in a "house befitting heaven" that's soprano Emma Veary at the Halekulani Hotel. Miss Veary opened last weekend at the picturesque beach-front restaurant on the grounds of that quaint low-rise hotel in Waikiki. And if her first two nights Friday and Saturday are Mow on Mondays this jewel of a songbird has all the right elements for a gem of a show. An in-the-round format enables her to work to every corner of the Coral Terrace. THE TWIN pianos of Fred Ditto and Phil Ingalls form a simple, yet effective accompaniment like opals accenting the diamond.

And a ceiling of hau trees canopied, just in case of rain and a backdrop of the vast Pacific Ocean complete the heavenly picture. Miss Veary's show is like a two-part recital, featuring nonstop singing, a little patter and immaculate artistry. Her opening set is a bracelet of ballads, show tunes, operatic arias and Irish ditties golden charms from a golden voice. They include such oldies as "With a Song in My Heart," "How Are Things in Glocca HOW THE OTHER HALF LOVES Advertiser review PRESENTED BY i i Bob Johnson Photo Miss Veary: A diamond in the proper setting. is Hawaii LIVE COMEDY THEATRE kamaaina room cabaret seating any indication of what's to come, Miss Veary should have a durable, delightful run at the Halekulani.

And Veary interesting, too. are her sprightly, animated etchings of arias from "Carmen." Haunting, spirited, meticulously in character.
