1 1 i ii i i I Bank of Hawaii in 1948 as an assistant vice president and became a vice president late the same year. He was named a senior vice president in 1958 and in 1963 became the bank's president, succeeding the late Julian R. Davis. MR. SCHNEIDER retired in 1966, ending a 46-year career in banking which began in New York with the Chemical National Bank.

He was a member of the board of directors of the Bank of Hawaii and the Crown and Amelco and active in business and community affairs. He was a member of the Oahu Country Club, Outrigger Canoe Club and Pacific Club. He also was a past director of the Honolulu Community Chest, Honolulu Council, Navy League of the United Amalu also told the group of mourners "Although the world remembers him as 'Biggie' Chan, we who are gathered here remember him as (Amalu said in his column Sunday that he "never once called him Biggie. I knew him only as Sonny, a name that his own family called him. I never really knew him as Biggie.

This name belonged to another world, the one that he had chosen for himself." Police claimed that Chan, an ex-convict and known gambler, was trying to take over an organized crime syndicate here before he was murdered. Amalu said in his eulogy yesterday: "A man has many faces to the world at least we know he played a fair pack of cards cut a fair deal and played the cards as they laid." Harold K. "Biggie" Chan, 47, who was gunned down a week ago in a suspected gangland slaying, was eulogized yesterday for his kindness and generosity to his fellow man. About 30 persons attended the funeral. Advertiser columnist Sammy Amalu, who was a lifelong friend, spoke at funeral services for Chan at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.

Chan's mother also is buried there. Amalu repeated the praise he gave to Chan in a column written last August, when Chan was under fire for gambling: "Biggie has always played the game of life. I have never known a kinder and more generous man than Biggie. I have never known a man more trustworthy than Biggie. "If ever he were to give you his word, he would keep it.

Or die trying. That is exactly the type of man that Biggie is." MR. SCHNEIDER States, Oahu Development Conference and the Chamber of Commerce of Honolulu. He served on the advisory committee for the Farm Loan Administration in the early 1950s. He is survived by bis wife, Genevieve, of 4340 Pahoa and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow for Edward A. Schneider, 70, retired, president of the Bank of Hawaii who died Monday. The services will begin at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow at Williams Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.

Mr. Schneider joined the services Friday for Mrs. Davis Mrs. Rose K. Davis, mother of singer Charles K.

L. Davis and sister of financier Francis Ii Brown, died here Sunday. She was 78. Mrs. Davis was the widow of Dr.

Arthur L. Davis, a Waialua plantation physician. Services over the ashes will begin at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Andrew's Cathedral.

Burial in the family plot at Oahu Cemetery. Survived by sons, Charles K. L. and Francis A. Davis; brother, Francis Ii Brown.

Family requests contributions to Heart Fund in lieu of flowers. mm COLBURN Frank Harvey Kealoha Colburn, 76, of 625 11th died Monday at Kuakini Hospital. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary, where services will be held at 7:30 p.m., and again from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday, when another service will be held at 10 a.m.
