Satellite Booster 1 KIKU-TV Plans Color, UHF By BERT DARR TV-Radio Editor Hawaii's independent, non-affiliate TV outlet, KIKU-TV (Channel 13) is testing COLOR this weekend, and, as announced by new manager Herb Rossin of New York, plans to. expand its TV coverage to the Neighbor Islands by means of a UHF satellite booster. Ia a recent meeting with wealthy owner Richard Eaton (United Broadcasting), Rossin was handed responsibility of preparing to bring color TV to the Channel 13 station. When plans are complete for Neighbor Island transmission (perhaps 90 days) a UHF channel (in the 70's on the dial) may be used. Programming will be expanded also, retaining, though the foreign language format.

Game shows will be hosted by Island deejay Bill Charette and Sherry Cooper Wagner, and popular disc jockey Ron Cooper bows soon in a "Night Scene" program on KIKU-TV, joining forces with KHON-TV's Mary Anne Bunch as co-host. TV producer of the 90-minute ETV documentary, "Urban School Crisis," being viewed this Sunday night (6 o'clock) on KHET is ex-Islander Greg Jackson, Jackson attended Punahou and resided with his parents in Kahala and Manoa. A few Islanders may view themselves in Sunday's "Wonderful World of Golf" colorcast which was filmed at the Big Island's Mauna Kea Beach Hotel course. Other musical highlights in the broadcast limelight this week are KAIMVMetropolitan Opera," "Der Ro-senkavalier" with Leonie Rysanek as the Princess on FM and AM Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and the switching of Bob Hollinshead's popular "Concert by the Sea" from KAIM to KCCN. Next Sunday night's (February 16) "Concert by the Sea" at the Moana Hotel's Banyan Court features the Kamehameha Schools choir and a live broadcast of the program next week will be produced by Hollins-head for station KCCN (1420 on the dial) at 7:30.
