Richard E. Hopkins, who took possession of their new home In Falrmount Octpber 31, were surprised by friends, from Alton and St. Louis, Thursday night. A similar party was given in honor of Dr. and Mrs.

Hopkins by Alton friends last Saturday evening. Guests at both parties brought gifts for the Hopkins' new home. Dr. and Mrs. Hopkins formerly resided at 917 Alton street.

Retiring Queen in Alton Miss Shirley Howard, retiring queen of Alton Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, arrived in Alton today to participate in the hospital school of nursing fall festival Saturday. in Franklin Masonic Temple. Miss Howard is at Children's Memorial Hospital, Chicago, for pediatrics training. She will place the crown on the head of the new queen. The ceremony in which the crownnig of a queen will be a feature, is open to the public.

Brotherhood Banquet The Brotherhood of the Twelfth Street Presbyterian Church had its annual father and son banquet Monday evening at the church with 130 fathers and sons attending. Victor L. Unterbrink, president of the Brotherhood, presided. Motion pictures were shown and plans were made for the annual turkey dinner which will be served December 8. Club With Mrs.

Kennedy Mrs. Joseph C. Kennedy of 928 Washington avenue had as guests Thursday night members of the Billlkin Club. Prizes were given to Mrs. Arthur W.

Mrs. R. W. Metzger, residing at 1202 Milton road, will entertain the club In two weeks. Ruckman Hostess Miss Jean Marlene Ruckman of 1214 Garden street kept open house Thursday night alter the Marquette-Coyle football game.
