Earl Stocker ot 562 Whltelaw avenue, Wood River, will take place Saturday afternoon at 3 o'plock in the First Baptist Church, East Alton, with the Rev. William F. Bohn offfl- clatlng. John Lock of Alton and Mrs. Charles Fahnestock of Wood River, sister of the bride, will be attendants, and guests will be members of the Immediate families nnd a few close friends.

After a honeymoon trip the couple will reside In Wood River. Mr. Horstman and Miss Slocker are employes of Wood River Oil and Refining Company. The prospective groom Is a graduate of Alton High School and Purdue University, LaFayette, and the bride-to-be was graduated from East Alton-Wood River High School. Bridcs-to-Be Honored Miss Ella June Frederick and Miss Dorothy Wllken were "guests of honor Thursday evening at buffet dinner given by Mrs.

Herbert M. Wilson, 2632 Watalee avenue. Miss Frederick will be married to Efdon Christian October 30, and Miss Wllken will become the bride of Gerhard Pllz August 20. Following the serving of dinner at 6 o'clock, the prospective brides were presented with gifts of kitchen towels by the 26 guests present. Mrs.

Wilson was assisted In entertaining by her mother, Mrs. Emll Erdmnnn, and her daughter, Miss Florence Wilson. Pre-Nuptlal Shower at Medora Mrs. Lester Huff, Mrs. Floyd Frost and Mrs.

Everett Jones, all of Medora, entertained Saturday afternoon at the latter's home with a miscellaneous shower In honor of Miss June Walters of Mcdora, whoso marriage to George Huff of Alton will take place August 29. The appointments were In blue and pink. A white sprinkling can from a chandelier over the table on which the gifts for the bride-to-be wore arranged. Games were played and refreshments were served. Wedding at Detroit Miss Clarice Ford, daughter of Mrs, Agnes Ford of Detroit, and the late Walter Ford, and Charles Urban, son of Mr.

and Mrs. A. C. Urban of Detroit, were married at the Jesuit church In Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. A cousin of the bride, i the Rev.

Walter Ford, of Detroit, officiated at the double ring cere- The bride was escorted to the altar by her of Alton. She wnsfe down the aisle by her attpndants, Miss Rosemary Cecil, maid of honor, Miss Alice Marcella Earnhardt, and Miss Betty Duell, bridesmaids, and her 12-year-old Ford, junior bridesmaid. Mr. Urban's attendants were Larry Wilson, best man, and James Adams, James O'Neill, and Donald Berry, groomsmen. Miss Ford's bridal gown was of white satin and her flowers were arranged In an arm bouquet.

Her flnger-tlp veil fell from a cluster of orange blossoms, Her attendants were In frocks of pink marquisette over satin, and they carried colonial bouquets. They wore picture hats which matched their dresses. Following the wedding, a reception was held at Knights of Columbus hall In Detroit. Mr. and Mrs.

Urban will reside In Detroit where the groom Is a salesman with the Hudson department store. Among the guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Leo F. Ford and son, David of Alton, Mr.

and Mrs. Alvln Groshan of East St. Louis, Mr. and Mrs, H. V.

Thames of Memphis, and Mr. and Mrs Thomas Keel and daughter of Scranton, Pa. The late Walter Ford resided in Alton when he was a young man. His family has visited In Alton on Several occasions. Iluff-Wnltefs Announcement Mr.

and Mrs. Hoy Walters of Medora are announcing the engagement and approaching mar rlage of their daughter, June, to George Huff, son 'of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Huff of Roekbrldge. Miss Walters graduated from Mcdora Township High School in 1945 nnd for the past three years has been teaching school In Jersey County.

Miss Walters, has attended Illinois State Normal University at Normal, and Is attending Lakeview College of Commerce. Mr. Huff graduated from Modora Township High School In 1044. He served In the army 30 months, 21 of which were spent in Japan, and Is employed In the office of Laclcde Steel Company. During the late war he served as an In the navy. and Mrs. Chalengsworth's home was destroyed In the March tornado which struck Fosterburg. They are residing temporarily In St. Louis.

Mrs. Chalengsworth plans to leave for New York next week and will remain until after the wedding. "Gay Nineties" at Fidelity The "Gny Nineties" held their annual get-together Thursday at Fidelity at tho home of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Forty-five were present.

The "Gay Nineties" Is a group of women, who In their early days attended school at Fidelity. A basket dinner was served at. noon on the lawn at the Rodoll home. Two members, Miss Kate Powers of St. Louis, and Mrs, Jean Seago of Alton were observing their birthdays, nnd each was pro- sented with a birthday cake.

Prc-Nuptlal Party Miss Grade Herrmann was guest of honor at a party given Thursday night by Mrs. Robert K. Langen at her home, 825 Hawley avenue.

The marriage of Miss Herrmann to Robert Koeller will take place In St. Ambrose Church Saturday, August 28. Bridge, Oklahoma and pinochle provided entertainment, and Mrs. Preston Pelpert, Miss Virginia Monks, Mrs. Mary Peters and Miss Emma Bean were given prizes.

A Co-Ed Club Plans Dance The Co-Ed Club of YMCA will have a dance Wednesday evening, September 8 from 8 to 11 o'clock at the Alton 'Y' and will have as guests members of the Co-Ed Club of the St. Louis YMCA and the physical department of the Alton 'Y'. The committee on arrangements Cor the dance headed by Glenn Allen' met last night to complete plans.

The dance will be for club members and their guests and will be Informal. Smoky Phillips' orchestra will play for dancing. A group' from the Co-Ed Club had a swimming party last evening at Granite City. The next outing planned for the organization will be a steak fry August 18 at Onlzed Club grounds.
