The local chapter met dinner in Mineral Springs Hotel, and a Christmas party followed the business session. Schoeneweis- Goodbrake Wedding Set Plans have been completed for the wedding of Miss Caroline Goodbrake and William D. Schoeneweis which will take place Dec. 24 at 7 o'clock in Bethalto Presbyterian Church. A reception in the church social rooms will follow the ceremony. Miss Goodbrake is the daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Robert Goodbrake of 308 W. Main and her fiance's parents are Mrs. Walter Berry, 500 Williams Bethalto. and Warren Schoeneweis, also of Bethalto.

The engagement of the couple was announced in July. Xi Delta Mu Has Christmas Dinner tn Eubanks Home Mrs. Jack Eubanks was hostess to nine members, of Xi Delta Mu Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Thursday evening at a Christ-, mas potluck dinner meeting in her home, 5216 Wickway Dr. Mrs. Paul Santy was co-hostess.

The women brought food items to fill a basket for a needy family. Beta buddies were revealed, and new names selected. Gifts were exchanged, followed by a card game. The women were served from a buffet table centered with a decorated red candle surrounded by greenery. Mrs.

Charles Krepel of 1130 Central will be hostess to the next meeting at 8 o'clock on the evening of Jan. 11. Host for the occasion was the board of the White Cross Auxiliary, Mrs. J.

Russell Dale was chairman. The group was entertained by solos sung by the Misses Dorothy Marshall and Kay Hall, and the pianist was Miss Donna Crandall. Students sang carols and staged skits, and gajncs were played. Gifts were presented to the students by the auxiliary. Refreshments were served by Mrs.

Dalr and her committee, comprised of Mrs. Joseph Voss, Miss Frances Richards, Mrs. H. B. Carroll, and Mrs.

Clifton Beach Jr. MISS NANCY LEE DUNBAR 100 Attend Miss Dunbar to Wed Brackhahn Mothers 9 Club Yule Luncheon Some 100 members of the Gilson Brown Mothers' Club were served a Christmas luncheon in the school Thursday and heard plans for January events. A chili supper was announced for the evening of Jan. 18, to be served in the school from 5 until 8 o'clock with Mrs. William Boe as chairman.

It was also announced that Mrs. J. F. Schlafly will speak on "The Cold War Inside America" during a meeting of the club in the school on Jan. 10.

It was reported that the mothers had purchased a Christmas tree for each room and the hallway of the school. These trees were presented to the teachers for decoration by the students. During the party, Mrs. Edward Kozicky led group singing of carols, and pupils of the four kindergarten classes presented a program of nursery rhymes and songs which they have learned this year. The children also recited the story of "The Three Bears." The long tables in the cafeteria were centered with red candles and red poinsettias, and other decorations included a decorated Christmas tree.

Hostesses were the third grade mothers, headed by Mrs. Stewart White. The mothers donated items of food and toys to fill three baskets for needy families. Repince is employed in construction work. Methodist Women Hear Program By Mrs. Bradshaw "The Christmas Star" was the title of the program presented by Mrs. Ray Bradshaw at the Christmas party for Esther Circle of First Methodist Church Thursday afternoon in Mrs. Bradshaw's home oh Alby street.

Twenty-two persons attended the luncheon and meeting. Mrs. Lewis Smith sang, accompanied by Mrs. William Hays. Assisting hostesses were Mrs.

Roy Luck, Mrs. Noel Rouleau, and Mrs. Robert Staehle. There was a candlelight service and a gift exchange. A special gift was presented to circle president, Mrs.

Chesley McKee. DAY Auxiliary Plans Children's Party for Sunday The Disabled American Veterans' Auxiliary, Unit 3, made lans Wednesday evening to host a children's party Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Watertower Dads' Club. The women entertained their husbands at a holiday party following the meeting, held in the American Legion Home. Refreshments were served from a buffet table. Gifts were exchanged.

Chairman of arrangements was Mrs. Nellie Bradshaw. The next meeting will be held in the Legion home on Wednesday, Jan. 10. Mind Your If you know that there are several showers planned for the bride-to-be, give some other kind of supper, tea or luncheon.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dunbar of 207 Ladd announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Nancy Lee of Kansas City, and Donald G. Brackhahn. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr; and Mrs.

James Brackhahn of Kansas City. The couple will be married Feb. 24 in the First Methodist Church, East Alton. Miss Dunbar is a 1958 graduate of Alton High School, and is employed as an airline hostess, by Trans-World Airlines. Before leaving Alton she was dn employe of Germania Savings Loan Association.

Mr. Brackhahn is a graduate of the University of Kansas City where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and Omicron Delta Kappa. He is a teacher at Southwest High School, Kansas City. SAWYER Mrs. Edward Sawyer was elected president of the auxiliary to Alton-Wood River Sportsmen's Club during a meeting of 46 members Thursday evening in the club. A Christmas party followed the business period. Others elected were Mrs. Melvin Rushing, yiee president; and Mrs, Menry Steward, treasurer.

Mrs. Joseph Smith was re-elected secretary. Members of of directors wuTbe the retiring president, Mrs. Robert Parish; Mrs. Bonnie Thomure, Mrs.

Gifts to be exchanged were placed around a Christmas tree on the stage, and were distributed by Ted Beneze as Santa" Claus, assisted by Henry Steward and Robert Parish. Tables were arranged in the form of a Christmas tree, and were decorated trees, holiday candles and two large Santas. A decorated tree shaped of green net was suspended from the ceiling.

Games were played, and secret pals revealed. Retiring officers were hostesses. Officers will be installed on Jan. 11 during the next meeting of the group in the club. Mrs.

Gray Leads WSCS Worship At Godfrey Church Mrs. Howard Gray led the worship program at the monthly meeting of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Godfrey Methodist Church Thursday evening. Following the worship program a business meeting and social hour was held in Fellowship Hall. Mrs. George Adair, Mrs.

Earl Hatfield and Mrs. John Curtis were hostesses for the social hour. Variety Club Wraps Gifts for Children Gifts were wrapped for 27 children of the Catholic Children's Home Wednesday evening by members of the Variety Club in the home of Miss Sharon Black, 214 Lakeside East Alton. The packages will be distributed at a party the club will give Sunday at the home. Members will exchange Christmas gifts at a dinner meeting Wednesday evening in Colonial Supper Club.

PHILIP GRAUL (Staff Photo) Grauls Will Observe Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Philip C. Graul will observe the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding with open house on New Year's Eve. They will receive friends in their home, 1902 Beall from 2 until 5 o'clock in the afternoon, and from 7 until 9 o'clock in the evening.

Mr. Graul and the former Ruth Jacoby, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anton Jacoby of Alton, were manned on New Year's Day. 1912.

The ceremony was performed by the late Rev. J. M. Rudhe in Grace Methodist Church. Mr.

and Mrs. Graul are parents of three children. They are Robert of Alton, a photographer for the Alton Evening Telegraph; William of Drexel and Mrs. Duane Whitmer (Marjorie), of Gainesville, Fla. The couple has 10 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. William Graul and children, Susan and Harry, will come for the open house, and are expected to arrive dur- ing Christmas week. Mr. Graul is a retired postal employe, and his was a school teacher here before her marriage.

Schauer Witt. Head Altar Society Again at St. Patrick's Mrs. David Schauer was reelected president of St. Teresa's i Altar Society of St.

Patrick's Church during a Christmas party attended by 40 members Wednesday in the school hall. Others elected were Mrs. Joseph Cowan, vice president; Mrs. Harvey Benner, secretary; and Mrs. Louise Rasmussen, treasurer.

Ray Bierbaum' was reelected president of Sunshine Circle Class of Cherry Street Baptist Church at a Christmas party Thursday evening in the church parsonage. Thirty-nine members attended. Elected as vice president was Mrs. Walter Isaacs; secretary, Mrs. Melvin Green; assistant treasurer, Mrs.

Edward Marshall; assistant secretary, Mrs. George Walter; visitation chairman, Mrs. Archie Helton. Re-elected to office were treasurer, Mrs. Ephraim Doles, and Mrs.

Ernest Sons, flower treasurer. Prizes were given to those presenting the best programs during the year, and to those making the most visitations. These prizes were won by Mrs. Floyd McManus, Mrs. Henry Dryden, Mrs.

Bertha Brown and Mrs. Pearl Bray. Mrs. A. W.

Schrimp led devotions, and gifts were exchanged. The gifts were items brought from home which members wanted to "share. Mrs. Freeman Privett showed a film entitled "A Better World," and games were played. Mrs.
