The No. 3-seeded Ralston topped Rafael Osuna of Mexico, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3, while Graebner, seventh-ranked, ousted Dave Jim Maloney, who went down to his sixth defeat, gave up all three New York runs in the first on only one hit. Leadoff batter Bud Har-relson walked and stole second.

Maloney then hit Ron Hunt with a pitch. AI Lupow walked to fill the bases and Harrelson scored on a wild 'pitch. Ken Boyer drove in two runs with ta single. Ribant retired the first 15 batters in order before Johnny Edwards led off the sixth with a clean single. In the seventh, Deron Johnson led off with his 23rd homer.

Hrdlicka was principally a linebacker and a good one last year. In spring practice he was shifted to fullback. When workouts began last month, he was transferred to tackle. The victory was Ribant's 11th of the season, the most ever in one year by a Met righthander and snapped a five game New York losing streak. Ribant is only two shy of the all-time winning mark for a New York pitcher set by Al Jackson in 1963.

Indians Trip Bosox By 6 to 2 CLEVELAND (U I) Gary Bell made good his sixth attempt at winning his 14th game, holding Boston to three hits as the Cleveland Indians beat the Red Sox 6-2 last night. Hawaii Judo Team Triumphs A Hawaii judo team defeated a combined team from San Jose State College and the University of California in a tournament sponsored by the Judo Black Belt Association of Hawaii. The local judo stars won 12 matches, lost two and drew six. The collegians won two, lost 12 and drew six matches.

Boxing Clinic At Schofield Veteran boxing figures Dr. Robert Doornink and Edward Urbec will conduct a three-day ring clinic at the Schofield gymnasium Sept. 12-14-15. Sessions will start at 7 p.m. and will cover all aspects of the sport plus demonstrations.

Dr. Doornink is with the physical education department of Washington State University. He was Pacific Coast amateur heavyweight champion in 1945. Urbec is presently chairman of the Massachusetts State Boxing Commission and has been associated with boxing since 1928. He was a welterweight alternate on the 1932 U.S.

Olympic squad. The admission free clinic is open to civilians as well as military personnel. (UPI) Jim Osborne of Honolulu gained the fourth round of the U.S. tennis championships yesterday by defeating Claude Degronckel of Belgium, 9-7, 6-8, 6-2, 6-1. Only two seeded Ameri Tigers Down Senators By 8 to 2 DETROIT (UPD Don Wert and Bill Freeman hit two-run homers and drove in three runs apiece last night to lead the Detroit Tigers to an 8-2 victory over Washington.

Senators manager Gil Hodges was ejected from the game for the first time in his 23-year Major League career. Denny McLain won his 18th game of the year against 11 losses and contributed two hits to the 12-hit Detroit attack, which raked five Washington pitchers. McLain was battered for 11 hits but the Senators left nine men stranded on the bases. Hodges, who played 20 years in the National League with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers and the New York Mets, was ejected in the seventh inning by umpire Al Salerno. Hodges made a heated protest when Ed Brinkman was called out on a close play at first base which dampened a Washington rally.

The 6-1, 250-pounder, who has undergone knee operations, reinjured his knee last week. Three more Hawaii Island-e pitcher Pete Craig, catcher Mike Brumley and first baseman Bob Chance were recalled by the Washington Senators yesterday.
