Scientist Takes Post at Bishop Museum Dr. Terrence Barrow, New Zealand scientist, is scheduled to arrive aboard the SS Oronsay today to join the staff of the Bishop Museum. Barrow has been senior ethnologist, in charge of all anthropological collections, at the Dominion Museum in Wellington since 1958.

He will join the Bishop department of anthropology as a specialist in ethnology and material culture. He said the papers give a fascinating insight into the lives of the early missionaries. The donor is Woodbridge Bingham, professor of history at the University of California at Berkeley, who is a direct descendant of the Rev. Hiram Bingham, who headed the First Company of missionaries to Hawaii. They arrived here in 1820. The collection, which occupies more than 20 boxes, covers a period of three generations of the Bingham family, extending approximately from 1817 to 1908. THERE ARE family letters, diaries, journals and other papers in the collection, most of them giving an intimate glimpse into the lives of the Rev.

Bingham and his wife, Sybil Moseley Bingham, and Hiram Bingham and his wife, Clarissa Brewster Bingham. The papers were kept at the Honolulu home of Hiram Bingham II until the time of his death in 1908. They later were kept at the Washington, D.C., home of the late Sen. Hiram Bingham III of Connecticut, until his death in 1956. Sen.
