Rev. E. V. Stanford VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) The Very Reverend Edward Stanford, 69, former president of Villanova University, died yesterday in Dania, Florida, apparently of a heart attack.

Father Stanford joined the Villanova faculty as an engineering professor in 1923, was appointed president in 1932 and served for 12 years. He was born in Boston. Sumio Nojima Wake and funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. today at Kukui Mortuary for Sumio Nojima, 45, of 2414 Huene Street. He died Wednesday at Kuakini Hospital.

Louis Globe-Democrat, died yesterday of heart disease. La Coss, who wrote a regular Sunday column for the newspaper since his retirement in 1958, formerly was vice-president of the Globe-Democrat and editor of the editorial page. La Coss, who was on the staff of the newspaper 42 years, received the Pulitzer Prize in 1952 for an editorial entitled "The Low Estate of Public Morals." Sergeant George E. Hayes, a member of the 25th Infantry Division, was killed in action in Vietnam, the Defense Department reported. Hayes, 24, left Hawaii on January 3. He is survived by his wife, Vitoliga, of 2246-F Kalaunu Street; two sons, George, 2 months old Jerry, 18 Sfc. Teofilo Pimentel Mass for Sergeant First Class Teofilo C.

Pimentel, 39, of 833 Ihiihi Avenue, Whitmore Village, Wahiawa, was held today at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Wahiawa. Mr. Pimentel, a member of the 25th Infantry Division, was killed in action February 10 in Vietnam. He was buried with military honors at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl. Survivors include his wife, Celestina; seven sons, Michael, John, Teofilo, Abraham, Ronald, Donald and Phillip; two daughters, Peggy and Kathy, and his mother, Mrs.

Maria Castillo Pimentel, of the Philippines. Army Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Charles Maria LIHUE, Kauai Charles Maria, 67, of Kalaheo died at his home on Wednesday. A Rosary was recited at Kauai Mortuary in Koloa last night. Arrangements for burial in Honolulu are pending.

Mr. Maria was a retired leading man with the U.S. Lighthouse Service. He came to Kauai eight years ago after 41 years in the light service. He is survived by his wife, Mrs.

Margaret Maria of Kalaheo; two sons, Charles E. Maria of Honolulu and Sergeant Herbert Maria of Schofield Barracks; four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Lurline) Amell of Palolo, Mrs. Emerson (Norma) Morse of Waimanalo, Mrs. Albert (Thelma) Rep-pucci of Oahu, and Mrs.

Paul (Rita) Pappesurgi of Donora, Pennsylvania; three brothers, Herbert and Bill Maria of Honolulu and Arthur Maria of San Lorenzo, California; two sisters, Mrs. Lily Figuero of Oahu and Mrs. Ida Howard of Oakland, California; two stepchildren, Alfred Castro of Honolulu and Mrs. James (Angeline) Medeiros of Virginia, and 16 grandchildren. Mrs.

Sadie Smith Mrs. Sadie D. Smith, 78, of 3509 Alani Drive, died Saturday at her home. She had made her home here for 55 years. The remains have been cremated.

Burial will follow at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Mr. Meheula, a retired chief mate of the interisland steamer Hawaii, died yesterday at Castle Memorial Hospital. Friends may call at the mortuary between 7 and 9 p.m. today and after 8 a.m.

Cassandra Kaeck Cassandra D. Kaeck, seven-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander P. Kaeck, of Monterey Park, California, drowned on Monday when she crawled in a i 1 's small swimming pool.

Survivors besides her parents, are grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kaeck, of Honolulu, and Mr. and Mrs. F.

J. De Clercq, long-time Island residents now living in La Jolla, California. Dr. Ho En-Seong Dr. Ho En-Seong, 93, who as a youth studied at Puna-hou School, died Monday in Hong Kong, where he was a dentist.

Dr. Ho, one of China's first modern dental practitioners, was born in China and was taken to Hawaii as a young boy by his father. The family first settled in Kohala on the Big Island. In 1901, Dr. Ho married Lee Kwan-Fai, sister of the late Dr.

K. F. Lee. Their first two children, Mrs. Albert Quon and Mrs.

Harry C. Y. Tarn, were born in Honolulu. In 1907 he moved to Nanking, where he practiced for 41 years. He retired in 1949.

Survivors include his wife, two sisters and six children. Two sisters, Mrs. Ching Fook and Mrs. Lucy H. Goo, live in Honolulu.

Mrs. Josephine Sylva Requiem mass for Mrs. Josephine K. Sylva, 53, of 242-G Kaiulani Drive, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St.

Ann's Church, Heeia. She died Wednesday at Queen's Hospital. Friends may call at Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary between 6 and 9 p.m. Monday and after 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be at Hawaiian Memorial Park. Survivors include her son, Sydney, and two daughters, Mrs. Bernard Melemai and Mrs.

Solomon Wong. Mrs. Aliitasi Suapaia Services, for Mrs. Aliitasi Suapaia, 49, of Laie, Oahu, were held today at the Laie Ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mrs.

Suapaia, who was employed at the Polynesian Cultural Center, died Saturday at Kahuku Hospital. Burial followed at Laie Mormon Cemetery. Survivors include a daughter, Paulette Stogsdill; her mother, Taimi F. Suapaia; three brothers, Adam, Faaf-eu and the Reverend Fuifatu Suapaia, and a sister, Mrs. Mulu Spencer.

Hawaiian Memorial Park Mortuary was in charge. Hayato Yasunaka LIHUE, Kauai Hayato Yasunaka, .55, of Kaumakani died Tuesday at Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waimea after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at Garden Island Mortuary at Lawai at 5 p.m. today. Cremation will follow.

Mr. Yasunaka was born November 3, 1910 at Ma-kaweli. He was a crane operator for Olokele Sugar Company. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hatsume Yasunaka of Kaumakani; two sons, a two brothers, five sisters and his mother, Mrs.

Omie Yasunaka of Kaumakani. The sons are Hisao Yasunaka of Honolulu and Myles Nobuo Yasunaka of Japan. The daughter is Mrs. Jean-ette Yurie Katsuda of Honolulu. The brothers are Gunichi Yasunaka of Kaumakani and Seiso Yasunaka of Honolulu.

The sisters are Mrs. Chiyono Morikawa of Waimea, Kauai, and Mrs. Ha-tsumi Morita, Mrs. Shigeno Okumura, Mrs. Janet Itsuyo Okikawa, and Miss Edna Tatsuyo Yasunaka, all of Honolulu.

Mrs. Take Yamane I Hawaii Services for Mrs. Take Yamane, 85, of Kurtistown, were to be held today at Hawaii Funeral Home, followed by cremation at Homelani Crematory. Mrs. Yamane died Wednesday in Hilo Hospital.

Survivors include three sons, Masuichi and Masato of Kurtistown and Ichiro of Honolulu: two daughters, s. Imoto Matsuyo of Mountain View and Mrs. Fu-miko Yonemura of Honolulu; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Hawaii Funeral Home handled arrangements. 4 A.M.
