second interest at this time of the season when social activities swing toward the parade of June weddings Miss Mable Marty top left has announced her engagement to Walter Knight of Bakersfield and Fresno Miss Helen Osborn of SaultSte Marie Mich and formerly of Fresno center top is the fiancee of Dr Robert Jeff Patton of Ann Arbor Mich Miss Lois Sullivan right top will be married to Ray White also of Fresno in San Francisco Wednesday a tea yesterday served to announce the engagement of Miss Julia Knowles lower left to Ivan Walsh of Fresno and Mrs Richard Babcock lower right was Miss Janet balloons decorated the 8unnyside -Country Club last night where the Omega Xi Omlcron Sorority held its annual Spring dance Palm trees were placed on the floor to which brightly hued balloons were tied Other balloons floated In the air and tiny Imitation trees were placed on the gaily covered tables Individual bowls of soap suds and pipes were provided for the guests to complete the bubble motS In the receiving line were the president Miss Georgina Sharp and her escort Kenneth Hickman the vice president Miss Margaret Ratcliffe and Oliver Jamison and the dance chairman Miss Helen Grlmsley with Loren Nickels Miss Floy Lewis and Mrs Seymour Mathiesen the sponsors also were present Other committee members 1 were Misses Ina White Catherine White Betty Schutz Patricia Murphy and Ratcliffe Those complimented Mias Conn sines ber engagement was announced A dozen friends of the honoree attended a luncheon served in the Johnston home on North Van Ness Avenue Card table trays used for the luncheon servioe were decorated with small boquets of coreopsis larkspur snapdragons and pansier The talleys used later at the contract bridge tables carried out the bridal motif ON WEEKEND VISIT The three-day Sault Ste Marie during the Christmas holidays and of Mias Janet Mary Osborn of Sault Ste Marie An uncle and aunt are Mr and Mrs Chase Osborn Jr of Fresno She was graduated from the Fresno High School and Stanford University in 1932 and was affiliated with Pi Beta Phi and Phi Beta Kappa Miss Osborn also was a member of the Entre Nous during her high school days here At present she is in Ann Arbor where she has been doing post-graduate work at the university since February Dr Patton Is the son of Dr and Mrs Charles Lanphier Patton of Springfield I1L He was graduated from the University of Michigan's medical achool and completed his interneship last year He is affiliated with the university medical school now and is expected to become junior instructor in surgery at the institution next year Margaret Adams Is Guest Of Honor At Barstow Home Another party and linen shower for Miss Margaret Adams who will be married to Frank Lerrigo on June 20th in the Stanford Memorial Church waa given Thursday evening by Mrs Richard Barstow at her home on Madison Avenue The guests were entertained with bridge games and after the gifts had been presented to Miss Adams refreshments were served at the Floradora Avenue Julia Knowles And Ivan Walsh Plight Troth Miss Buel Feted Small dlploma-Ilke parchment scrolls in Old English lettering announced the betrothal of Mlsa Julia Knowles to Ivan Walsh at a formal tea yesterday afternoon The affair was given by the bride-elect in compliment to Miss Katherine Buel on her approaching graduation from the Fresno State College Approximately 100 guests called at the Knowles home on Dlvisadero Street for the occasion Guests were received by Miss Knowles and her mother Mrs Knowles who were assisted by Misses Jane Olson Ida Woodbury Muriel Kilby Lola Long Dorothy Roushall and Lynn 8 Johnson Green and white were the two colors carried out in the decorations of the living rooms A glazed pottery bowl of soft green filled with all-white snapdragons and larkspur centered the table which was covered with a lace cloth over the aame colored satin1 Presiding at the tea table were Mrs Knowles Mrs David Buttles a sister of the groom-elect and Mrs he resides He was -graduated from the Fresno High School and attended the Fresno State College where he is a member of the Sigma Alpha Chi Fraternity He also studied economica at Stanford University party given last weekend for members of the Delta Mu Phi alumnae by Mesdamea Vincent Bragg and Arthur Hunnicutt The shower was given in the former's home on McKinley Avenue The afternoon was spent playing games of bridge and refreshments were served from table trays decorated with boquets of garden flowers New officers of the alumnae organization also were elected with Mrs Clinton Linder president Miss McAlpine vice president: Miss Nadine Roberts secretary-treasurer and Mrs Margaret Driscoll historian-reporter Those present with the honorees were Mesdames Robert Oakley Martin Winton last Summer will leave Monday for her home in Richmond Va Janet Sayers Becomes Bride Of Babcock The home of Mrs Lola Sayers on Iowa Avenue was tha aetting for the nuptial ceremony of Miss Mary Janet Sayers and Richard Babcock solemnized last night Rev Luther Stein of the First Presbyterian Church officiated Miss Martha Shupe and Ray Russell were the only attendants At informal aupper followed the ceremony and the couple left for Los Angeles for a brief honeymoon They will return to establish their home at 2202 Glenn Avenue Miss Sayers was gowned in a beige silk ensemble with which she wore a blouse of talisman-colored silk The coat was fingertip length flared from the shoulders and was styled with fur-trimmed bwll shaped sleeves She wore matching accessories and a bridal corsage of talisman roses and lilies of the valley A navy blue silk tallleur was selected by Miss Shupe for her attendant's costume With this she wore a white silk linen blouse and navy accessories Her corsage was made of gardenias Mrs Babcock attended the Roosevelt High School graduated from the Fresno- Technical High School and later attended the Fresno State College where she was a member of the Delta Mu Phi Sorority Her husband is a son of Mr and Mrs A Babcock of Los Angeles He studied in a local business college and la employed here in the office of tha Cudahy Packing Company RETliRNR TO THE SOUTH 'Mrs McKinnon left today for her home in Los Angeles after visiting Here for the last two weeks with her son-in-law and daughter Dr and Mrs Phillips Krikava-Theile Wedding Will Be Held June 17 In First Congregational Church Mr: Charlea Lerrigo of Topeka Kan mother of the groom-to-be arrived here Friday from Los Angeles where she has been visiting relatives for the last week She will remain in Fresno as the guest of her son at his apartment on North Van Ness Avenue until after the wedding Miss Theile and her fiance were honored Friday evening when a group with whom they are associated in
