18812. A special thank you to the Wyalusing Retirement Personal Care Home for their care and support during his residence. Donald F. Kinsman of King, N.C. married the girl of his dreams, the former Gertrude Corey of Johnson City, in 1957.

"Gert" was the "Style" behind the success of Hancock's Furniture. Gert was one of the original flying Stewardesses with Eastern Airlines. They quickly grew from a couple into a family with the birth of four children in five years. As a child growing up in JC, Dick's family would rent a cottage at Quaker Lake each summer. Dick would look across the lake at a small mountain overlooking the lake.

He made a promise to himself that one day he would have a place of his own on the beautiful lake. In the early 1950's, he fulfilled his childhood dream and purchased land and built a cottage on that very same mountain overlooking Quaker Lake. The Hancock family would move from their JC home to the cottage in early spring each year and remain at the cottage until late fall. The cottage was and remains the gathering point for friends and family. An accomplished athlete, successful businessman, true friend and family man, he will be sorely missed.

His positive outlook, quick wit and honesty will always be remembered among those he touched. No day at the cottage or on Quaker Lake will pass without thinking about the gentleman, and gentle man whose childhood dream left a legacy for generations of Hancocks. Goodbye for now Dad, thank you for everything. We miss you and will always love you. We hope everyday in Heaven is like a beautiful summer day at the lake.
