raises to be elective at the same time rather than at the 'm beginning of new terms The board yesterday by a 3 to 1 vote authorized County Counsel Robert Wash to draw up a proposed charter change and to submit it 'to the board soon salaries to $9600 a year with the chairman to receive $12000 However none of the supervisors is eligible for the pay raises until he begins a term A constitutional amendment approved by the voters of the state two years ago permits local boards councils and commissions to receive pay increases during their terms of office However the The board has indicated it will not offer other charter amendments previously discussed but it might change its mind before September 15th Wash informed the board the 15th is the last date to decide whether to put a charter amendment on the November ballot The 1963 session of the state legislature raised the amendment excluded charter counties from its provisions Fresno County's charter now prohibits pay raises for any
