The group adjutant, First Lt. J. P. JYIcConnpIl Air Cnme -urtll "Our Troop 10 meetings differ principally in that the girls read the lips of speakers to 'hear' what is going on, and that they do not sing Scout songs as most troops do.

As a result of their work at the school most of the girls speak well but it is difficult for them to sing." Meetings of Troop 39 are largely "oral" programs, although the girls occasionally go on hikes and picnics. Miss Madeline Peters is leader of the troop of blind girls. Learn by Braille The blind girls learn their Scout laws and other requirements from braille copies made at the school. There is also a troop of six deaf Brownies, or junior Girl Scouts, under the leadership of Mrs. Louise Lee.

On. June 2 there will be an investiture service at the school when five of the Brownies will become regular Girl Scouts. Three of the Troop 10 girls, Mitsui Anakasoto, Misaki Tane and Hideko Matsumura, are first class Scouts, and one, Sayano Kirita, is a second class Scout. pany and Cadet Corporal Herbert summarize the history of the Fifth Girl Scouts of Troop 10, made up of deaf girls at the territorial school for the deaf and blind, have done another "good turn." They have completed making uniforms for members of Troop 39, made up of eight blind girls at the school. The Troop 10 girls, whose leader is Miss Naomi Nortz, teacher at the territorial school, made the uniforms in the school sewing classes for their fellow Scouts who cannot see.

Perhaps two of the most unusual troops in national Scouting, girl members learn their Scout laws by lip reading and by braille. Not Much Different "Scouting by girls who cannot see or cannot hear does not differ greatly, however, from the normal troop program," said Miss Nortz, who has been Troop 10 leader for the past two years.
