After that date a bag for the waj-niail will be kept open at me Merchants' Exchange until 2, P. M. ET The mails were entirely through yes terday from every point. The Case or O'Blekis. Thejuryin this case full report of which we published yesterdaywere discharged by'Judge Farrar on Friday morning, being unable to agree upon a erdict. Various rumors reached the city as to the manner in which the jury were divided, but as the (act cannot well, and indeed, ought not, to come beyond the jury 'box, we omit giving anyof them. This is the second failure to obtain a verdict in this case. From IIavajia.

O. Price Current givea the statement of the cotton crop oj the United States, as made up by the New York Shipping and Commercial List," by which the total amount is put down at 2,100,537 bales, or 293,966 bales less than the year previous. This, however, says the Price Current, includes 27,008 bales, stated to be exports from and stock on hand in Texas, (from what source these items are derived is not explained,) and these figures being dded, the deficiency, as compared 'with last year when Texas cotton waa excluded is 320,974 bales. But even this, continues the Price Current, does not give the true comparison, for the reason that since Texas cotton has ceased to be entered at the Custom House as a foreign commodity, we have no means of distinguishing that portion received via Red River from the product of Louisiana. Last year, when our total receipts were 954,285 bales, this item was 15,119 bales; and if we suppose an equal quantity to hive been received this season, when the total receipts have been 1,041,393 bales, the actual deficiency would be 336,093 bales.

Upon this basis the crop of the United Slates, as heretofore computed, would be 2,058,410 bales for 1845-6, bales for 1844-5. CP We have a letter from Sumterville, Alan of the 16th which says that there will not be more than one-third of a crop of cotton in that section of country, owing to the destruction by the The corn crop is very extensive. fey Rice of the new crop has begun to come at ootn Charleston and Savannah. If the reader expects to learn from it what share our Government had in Santa Anna's admission to the port of Vera Cruz, he will be disap-pointed. The Union plainly baulks the question, and we are half inclined to believe that the editor did not know by what authority the commander of the St. Mary's suffered the Arab to pass.

maiyester- day brought us the intelligence of the total destruction of Niblo's theatre and gardens, by firej on tbe morning ofFridaythe 18th "The report in the Gazette and Times says the' fire was discovered at a few minutes after half-past 3 o'clock, but the alarm did not become general until 4. The flames first appeared bursting from the roof of the theatre, the whole inside of which was probably then on fire. The fire having made such headway, spread with uncontrolled rapidity, and soon the two united dwelling bouses adjoining the theatre and the garden saloon were in flames, which in a short time Bpread to the stores between th th.atr and the Racket club house, the armory of the uy uuara and other buildings on Crosby street and the small shops upon Broadway, and before 7 o'clock everything between the rl Prince street, Broadway and Crosby streets, was consumed. The buildings on opposite side of urosoy street were very much scorched, and were frequently in great danger, but were saved by tbe fire department, which was able to do a mue else. The doors and window frames of the houses on the opposite side of Broadway were also somewhat scorched.

The dwellings belonged to the estate of the late Mr. Van Rensselaer, of Albany, of which the property was leased by Mr. Niblo, and were fully insured, as were also, in part, the theatre and saloon erected by Mr. Niblo himself. The scenery, dresses, property, belonged to the theatre, and a few of the dresses and parapher nalia of the Ravels were destroyed.

The amount of property destroyed is eeii mated at $45,000. Mr. Niblo's house and fur niture were insured to the amount of $18,000, One of the misfortunes of this fire, says the lnbune, is the depriving the American In stituteof its usual ground for the National Fair. Probably Castle Garden will be now occupied. ihe lnbune adds: In the theatre the Ravel family lost all ihei properties, dresses, music.
