the civic auditorium lawn During the ten-day hunt for Thompson he appeared at various places in the San Joaquin Valley allegedly passing forged checks and outfitting himself with an automobile clothes and jewelry He gave up without resistance when captured on the highway between Calwa and Fresno last Thursday A report Thompson has gone on a hunger strike was denied today by Deputy Sheriff Huffman when he has the notion he msimtate IRIHEHLLEY Merced Stanislaus Meetings To Be Held In Renewal Of Sjgnup Drive The Raisin Prorate Campaign Committee headquarters announced todav that grower meetings are scheduled within the next week in Merced and Stanislaus Counties in a renewed drive to obtain signatures of grape and raisin producers In that area Paul Vincent the committee general chairman says more than 1090 growers of raisin grapes am listed in the Merced and Stanislaus district and the signatures of two-thirds of these are required He aaye that although these growers do not make raisins their approval of the market control plan is necessary because they are potential raisin producers Vincent declares: producers have been alow to realize that the raisin prorate plan has a direct Influence on the price for fresh grapes These meetings will be held to give the growers more Information about the plan since it will mean many thousands of dollars next year for grape growers who sell their product into the fresh Ida Redfern president of the Fresno County Farm Bureau will be among the sneakers at a prorate meeting Thursday evening at the Washington School near Turlock under
