master plan on the proposed municipal rose garden for the recently annexed portion pt Roeding Park is expected to be presented to the Fresno City Commission by Mayor Gordon Dunn next Monday The plan was given Mayor Dunn yesterday by Mrs Alice Tavares of the San Joaquin Valley Rose Society plan is just a preview of what the possibilities Mrs Tavares told Mayor Dunn Site Mapped The garden site located between the proposed FYesno Freeway and West Avenue is a five acre triangle measuring 958 feet along its longest side and 500 feet and 213 feet on the remaining aides Only a small portion of the garden is expected to be developed this year but the master lan offers a design featuring our 150 foot diameter circles elevated one above the other which would be seen tar motorists entering the city from the Golden State Highway on the north The northern side of the garden would be lined with coast redwoods and deodars The other two sides would be bordered with nearly 100 climbing rose bushes Visitors entering the garden on the West Avenue side w'ould find a key to the various sections just inside the entrance Plantings Planned Under the plan no less than 25 roses of any one variety would be planted In any one section and planting could be done in such a manner that the colored blooms would blend Each area would be marked with the name of the rose variety' The circle to be planted in January would be located in the center of the plot It would be sunken and contain 1524 rose hushes It w'ould have a lawn border and two lawn crosswalks A number of walks also would be woven among the planted rose bushes and possibly a fountain w'ould be placed as a center The Fig Garden Woman's Club donated funds for 25 hybrid teas at a recertt meeting The plan was developed by a steering committee of 14 rose society members including President Dutchcr Pine Flat Storage Boost Offsets Runoff Increase Rising temperatures brought increased flow in the snow fed rivers of the San
