The attendance was very small, partly because of the superior attractions of the Football Cup tie at the Crystal Palace, and the proceedings fell rather flat, especially when it London, Saturday. Beyond a rise of rV in Tanganyika there was no quotable alteration in Btio-desian. The West Australian market was idle, but quite steady, apart from a slight reaction in Kalgurli.

Kew Zealand shares keep firm, and there was a slight recovery in Barrier descriptions, due to some bear repurchases. Copper shares have again derived strength from the character of American advices, both" Itio Tinto and Anaconda rising The only movements of importance among miscellaneous shares was a fall of 9d. in Pahang Consolidated and a rise of in Mexico El Oro. 16. 4 Do, non-cum.

Considering how much the Stock Exchange of late appears to have been affected by the "flood" of new issues, it is somewhat surprising that the total capital offered for subscription this year falls short of the amount for the corresponding period of 1907. To date tho aggregate is a little over 61,000,000, as compared with a little under 65,000,000 a year ago.

In contrast with 1905, when to this date 55,000,000 was offered, there is, of course, a large increase, but in 1904 the corresponding figure was fully 85,500,000. Then, however, the total was largely swollen bv heaw borrowing by the Japanese Govern and North British ordinary and respectively. Great Northern and Great Central issues show a moderate decline as a result of the new capital announoed by both, and there are losses of i in Great Western, Great Eastern, Midland deferred, and North-Western Deferred Southern stocks were steady, but District are down. Among Foreign Government bonds Japanese have risen in several cases, and Russian Four per Cents are moderately higher, but Egytian Unified and Turkish Unified each fell J. In the South American section Argentine and Brazilian Government bonds were steadier, the latter receiving some support, and there was a general rally of J- in Peruvian Corporation issues, while the new debentures were better at 1 discount.

Guatemala and Venezuela fell and Colombian -J. The continued strength of American Hail-way shares appears to be largely due to the certainty that the Pennsylvania bond issue will be a great success, though it is also expected that to-day's Bank statement will be a good one, despite the gold export, while 2U32 New Primrose I 28 Northern Copper 80 The following transactions are reported in tho London Stook Exchange Official List: BUSINESS DONE.
