Mary's Market Shooting A flair M. L. Treehan and Isaac Newton were arraigned yesterday before Assistant Recorder Moore, charged with shooting with intent kill J. C. Lasbnry, on the 10th August last in fit Mary's Market.

Peter Cook was arrested by the 6th of August, charged by G.L. Laughland with obtaining money under false pretences, having drawn money on a lot of cotton which was never delivered as promised. Whilst he was in jail the cheek in question was given by Cook to Emile Ruts, who presented the same for payment The following evidence was taken, and Cook was sent before the First District Court for trial, bail $1000. Failing to give the same the prisoner was re Mr. Thtcdort Itunde, sworn, testified Wit Laughland, of 64 Magazine street; has been in their employ since 1351.

Witness is familiar hand writing and signa ture. Witness states that information given to him that a check was presented to the banking house of Pike, Lapeyre Brother, purporting to have been signed by G. L. Laughland; andthat informant has reason to believe it was a counterfeit Witness went to the check had been signed by G. L.

Laughland. Mr. Pike informed witness that the check had him, and h. that information i left at his office dt Walloon a office, on Carondelet street. Witness certifies the check dated September 5th, 1866, for seven hundred and fifty dollars, ($750) and marked as the check shown jm.

After examination in the bank, they informed witness that the check was a forgery, and returned it in search of G.L. Returned immediately to the Parish Prison and informed Dennet that the check they had given him was a forged one, and that witness had failed to get the money on it.
