sent requests for a warning signal at the Santa Fe Railroad Nebraska Avenue grade crossing to the Fresno County Board of Supervisors the safety council and the state Public Utilities Commission Obstructions block the view for highway travelers both north and south of the crossing From the south trains round a curve and can be seen only when they are a short distance away Nevertheless only one accident involving a northbodnd train has occurred In the past 10 years and residents who have studied the record fed the greatest hazard from southbound trains In the most recent accident Franklin Ross of Bakersfield traveling west on Nebraska Avenue did not sec a train traveling south because of a winery Marks on the pavement showed his vehicle skidded 40 feet Another reason cited for the need of the signal is that the bus which takes students to the Caruthers High School must cross the tracks twice each morn at 7:40 and 8:05 When the fog is bad the bus driver realizing the quietness of the diesel engines has made it a custom to stop rut off the motor and listen before proceeding On a morning when the fog was unusually thick this Winter he asked a passenger to get out cross the tracks and listen Gibson Will Give Oath Mariposa New Superior Judge Phil Gibson of San Francisco chief justice of the state supreme court will administer the oath of office to Attorney
