Policeman Of course the officers at the station house thought that one of their number was in trouble. Captain Scott and a police officer jumped into a hack and went up to the saloon.

The disturbance was all over, but Special Hammer was standing on the sidewalk blowing his double barreled whistle. It was found that a sailor of the Corolla had become excited and had made an attempt to throw a glass at the bartender, who jumped out to protect himself. The sailor fell and the glass was smashed, and the scrapper got a cut on his cheek. He was sent aboard his vessel, but the captain found that he had deserted during the day, so he had him locked up. And then came the rub.
