By the Nattoaal New York, April 27. The America's malls have oome to hand. I.iverpeel Cotton Btav rkete Wright dr, chxular says there was a total absence of animation in the cotton market, and that the American accounts were counteracted by the greater stringency in the money market Tbe imports were large and a cautious reserve characterized the daily operations. The trade ptirchased only to meet immediate requirements. The market closed tamely at a decline of 1-1 6th.

Hermann, Cex circular reports that the advices by the last steamship from the United States had no effect upon the market, being neutralised by tbe tightness of money and the heavy imports. It farther says that a considerable portion of the arrivals of cotton got into weak hands, and that in consequence of their apprehensions induced by the state of the money' market, they forced sales, which caused a depression. Nevertheless, it adds, the better qualities well maintained their position, while the lower grades still farther declined, and were unsaleable. Money, it says, was dally becoming more stringent Tbe private letters by the America are unfavorable. They report that the market closed heavy.

Box's Fast Presses. Mr. Richard M. Hoe, we see it stated, has received an order from the proprietors of the Boston Poet for a four cylinder press. There will be a promising combination a fast paper and a fast press 1 Miss Olive Logan.

The nuptials were solemn-nixed bv the Rev. Mr. Gavlord, at the Tre- mont House, Boston, in the presence of a few friends.

The party left town for New York, and had taken passage in the Havre steamer. Mrs. DeLisle will be accompanied on her European tour by her sister Cecilia. Both of these sisters have retired from the stage. Young Booth.

Am I write yon this, to send to the Sunny South," where spring mouths bring spring weather with them, the wind whistles and moans about our house tops with ookt, dreary rain pattering upon the windows.

For two nights past it has snowed seriously; aodwKb evident capacity to give as another toach of winter. And winter In reality, by the way, is much preferable to a cold spring. 1 We are alao going through a aeries of social Murder and the grades of wrong doing aext ba course, are the prominent things before the public mind. A recent tr al ofa prominent rain ia ter of the Gospel, for adultery, to closely followed by the aoensation of another on and other grave points. And yet another ease is held in abeyance till the return of the Injured husband, now en a long sea voyage.

For the day and even week, however, the Dalton divorce trial oeea-pies public attention. -The developments are truly frightful, aad crime of nearly all the deeper dyes are heaped upon the beads of those who AowitZ be pare if any one is yoang wives and successful pioua parents. He who about a year since was indicted for destroying bis wife's seducer, now appears before tbe highest tribunal in the State and sues for a divorce, alleging and it seems overwhelmingly proving; guilt of even more than adultery. As the accused Is of prominent family, the testimony makes its mark at every new revelation. Both husband aad wife are very young, and the latter is considered remarkably liAadaotne.

She, of course, is present, and bears the developments of her errors of both word and' deed with all possible coolness. She must have sworn some pretty lively oaths for a young lady, by the testimony. Wretched, indeed, is such a state of society, and every one asks where these developments are going to Soon they must end, however, and then we shall settle down, and be a good, well behaved -community again. There ts but little pleasant news to teH No very agreeable sensations are transpiring at laree just now. Thai berg's rare plan's tic talent has passed from us for the present, perhaps forever.

Probably we must wait till another season for another musical sensation. Then I trust we shall have it With all Boston's pride of tive musical talent, the managers of it have somewhat singularly syveriooked one pre mi-Bent item, and omitted to bring it forward, although occasionally the fact of its existence has been made manifest But circumstances and. perhaps, some little favoritelsm," have, tended to keep it in the back ground. Another season, however, I thiak, will hardly pass without its being brought forward on even private account, tf the usual "public avenues to publicity" are still closed. This is, of course, on the basis that the famous comet doesn't send as twirling into blank space through the summer.

Bernards. The University of Northern New York, at Bethany, was destroyed by fire on the night of the 19th inst Eastern Texas. AX the municipal election in Dallas, on the 4th inst, E. W. Hunt, was elected Mayor, without opposition.

The DaDus Herald, of the 11th inst, says: On Sunday night last, a very heavy aad destructive frost fell, cutting down vetretatation of all kinds. Corn, wheat garden vegetables and even much of the foliage of the forest trees are burnt to a crisp. The wheat had jointed and was beginning to head. Of course the only chance for a crop will be the yield of suckers that may come from tbe root Many intelligent farmers believe that if favored with a timely rain, a fair crop may yet be made in this way. The crop was probably more forward in this neighborhood than elsewhere.

Where the stalk was not jointed it will receive but little injury. The corn will have to be replanted. Should the seasoa prove favorable there is no reason why a fall crop should not be made. The Marshall Republican, of the 18th, speak-' ing of the recent frosts, say Planters wear long faces. But a few days ago, corn and ootton was ap in various places, and the gardens presented a cheering appearance.

All have been destroyed. The Tyler Reporter says that at bat on Saturday evening, the 11th, the ground was covered with snow to tbe depth of three inches, and i A fall ef this quantity of Bnow at any season of the year, is a great rarity in this portion of the South, but we think we may safely assert that the like was never before aeea in this latitude and longitude, on the 11th day of April. The ground being warm and the weather mild, the snow commenced melting on Sunday morning, and soon disappeared entirely. Interesting Developments. The London correspondent.

of the National Intelligencer, speaking of the election of Lord John Russell for tbe city of London, says 1 We have dwelt upon this election becauie we think the ad dr bears which Lord John has already made have thrown, and his future speeches in the House of Commons will probably throw, much light upon several at present rather perplexing points in the history of the last two or three years. now know that Lord John Russell was restrained, by a magnanimity unparalleled in parliamentary history, from making pnblio a despatch containing what he considers a vindication of his conduct at Vienna, because Lord Clareadom would not consent to print it. bat which would have blown to the winds all charge of his truckling to Russia. Lord John sow tails as that he wrote from Vienna urging Lord Palm erst on to prevent the C2irBaaasaa forts on the Black Sea from falling into the hands of Russia. Had this advice beea followed, the Czar would have been most effectually Impeded ia fwliowingup bispresent designs against Clr-cassia.

Lord John spoke out nobly about the duty of defending Sardinia and her liberty of speech no print against the threatened vengeance ef Austria; and he wwned Lord Palmers tern against the fatal blander which so mysteriously chained Omer Pacha in the Crnmea till hiapropoeed relief of Kate became impossible. These ejection revelations are at least valuable in clearing away some of tbe bewilderment that bong around the transactions of the period of the late war.
