Judy Lefevers Harper, age 91, passed peacefully from this life on December 27, 2016. Born December 20, 1925 in Manchester, TN, she was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lillie Lefevers as well as her sister Louise Richards. Her survivors include her husband and life focus of more than 68 years, F. Stephen (Steve) Harper, Jr. as well as her close friend John Crow son she have to pay and her beloved cat, Sweetie.

She is also survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Fendley and Deborah Stillwell along with 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Arriving in Nashville in the fall of 1944 with a scholarship to Andrew Jackson Business college, Judy completed her course work on an accelerated basis and began a career in office management and accounting which culminated in a 35 year association with John M. Crow, CPA. Her role in that accounting firm was indispensable. In 1946, through a blind date, Judy met Steve Harper and began a two year courtship which was to be followed by more than 68 years of marriage.

Each was a part of the other, an inseparable combination. Steve was life and life was Upon retirement as director of advertising for the Gannett owned Tennessean newspaper, Judy and Steve moved from Brentwood to their self- constructed dream home on a farm near Charlotte, TN. Many happy years followed, surrounded by their livestock, horses, dogs and cats all of whom Judy loved immensely. She is, and will continue to be, greatly missed. Special thanks are to be given to their group of guardian angels in the last years, especially Regina (Nina) Williams, Jamie Rayburn, Tammy Welcher, Debra Millard, Sheila Bryant, Debbie Miller, Dana Carver and Amy Butler.

Gratitude is also extended to her son-in-law Ed Fendley for his concern and periodic visits. Cremation and funeral arrangements are being made through Cheatham County Funeral Home, with interment to be made in the Harper family plot in Forrest Lawn Cemetery, Ashland City, TN. Memorial services will be conducted at First United Methodist Church in Dickson, TN at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory to the Dickson County Humane Association, the Nashville Humane Association, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), St. Hospital or the charity of your choice.

Paul Rees Shields, age 85, of Nashville, TN, went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2016 surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Erlanger, KY on April 20, 1931, to the late, Rev. C.F. and Almeta Shields. Paul was also preceded in death by his wife, Trudy Shields and brother, Gene Shields.

Paul was a veteran of the Korean Con ict, stationed in Germany. He was a proud member and trombonist of the 7th Army Headquarters Band. Paul received his undergraduate degree in Religion and Music from Trevecca Nazarene University and his M.Ed. in Guidance and Counseling from MTSU. He taught elementary and high school band for several years in Nashville area schools.

His ministry included churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Iowa. After retirement from full-time ministry, he made 17 mission trips to Haiti. For the past ten years, has volunteered as visitation pastor at The Grace Place. His ministry exuded the love of Christ. Everyone who was fortunate enough to know him soon found out what it was like to be loved.

That truly became his mission for life. He is survived by wife, Nelda Shiel ds; children, Rebecca Gamble and her husband, Ben Carmona and Ronnie (Cindy) Shields; step-children, Je (Leigh) Meadows and Tim (Sandra) Meadows; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be conducted 5 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at The Grace Place, 4316 Central Pike, Hermitage, TN with Pastor Tommy Dove ciating. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m.

He was born in Chattanooga, TN to the late Alex Creston Maxwell and the late Lillie Ste en Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Ann Alsobrook Maxwell and sister, Catherine Ann Groves. He is survived by his nephews, Stephen Groves of Phoenix, Arizona and David Groves of Chattanooga, TN. Mr.

Maxwell was a graduate of Notre Dame High School, Chattanooga. He received his B.A. from St. Ambrose College, Davenport, Iowa and an M. A.

From Notre Dame University, South Bend, Indiana. Mr. Maxwell also attended St. Ponti cal University in Baltimore, Maryland. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1958 for the Diocese of Nashville.

During 13 years as a he was a teacher and principal at his Alma Mater, Notre Dame High School, Chattanooga, 1968 1970. Mr. Maxwell served 20 years as an educator at Young High School and Bearden High School in Knoxville until his retirement in 1992. He and his wife, Ann bred and raised Arabian horses. Mr.

Maxwell was an avid reader, especially of philosophy. A funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3rd at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Chattanooga with Father David Carter ciating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Chattanooga.

Dr. James Norman Lowe, age 80 of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2016 in Nashville. Dr. Lowe was born May 3, 1936 in Fargo, North Dakota to the late Adrian Lowe and the former Norma Genevieve Mathison. Dr.

Lowe received a BS from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio and later earned a PhD from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. Dr. Lowe taught college chemistry for 50 years at Stanford University, Smith College, The University of the South for 37 years, Whitman College and Vanderbilt University. His academic love was organic chemistry. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dr.

Larry Lowe. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lowe; daughters, Leah and Sarah Lowe; son, Joseph Lowe; and granddaughters, McKenzie and Katlyn Lowe.
