The band took fourth place in percussion ordinal, fifth place in visual and color guard ordinals, eighth place in effect ordinal and 13th place in music ordinal. Jefferson placed 10th in this category with a score of 84.95. The band took ninth place in visual ordinal, 10th place in music and color guard ordinals, 11th place in effect ordinal and 13th place in percussion ordinal. On Nov. 5, Montville Township High School Mustangs and Morris Hills High School both took part in a USSBA competition that was not an all-states event.

Best pit crew for Morris Montville Township, a Group II Open, took second place with a score of 90.9. The band won best color guard, best percussion and best music. Morris Hills, a Group III Open, took first place with a score of 92.55. Sources tell me the band took home best music, best percussion, best in show honors. The school also received a best pit crew award, and the band boosters took best cheering section.

At an independent show on Nov. 6, the Randolph High School Marching Rams was rated Superior, the highest rating awarded. The band also received an award for overall best visual at the 24th annual Fall Marching Band Invitational in Bloomfield. The event was sponsored by the Bloomfield Board of Education. There were 16 bands from northern New Jersey competing in four classifications.

Randolph competed against three other bands in its classification. To all the students, staff and volunteers who have worked so hard this season It's come down to this. Following intense summer training, after-school rehearsals, football halftime performances and band competitions, several local marching bands competed in the All-States Championships. The U.S. Scholastic Band Association sponsored the event, which was held Nov.

5 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford and Nov. 6 at Hershey Park Stadium and J. Birney Crum Stadium, both in Pennsylvania. The USSBA offers a competitive circuit for marching bands to perform. Bands are placed into groups of similar size and talent.

During the all-states, bands from across the mid-Atlantic region compete against each other. 4th place for Roxbury According to a spokesperson with the USSBA, this season-ender is the single largest high school marching band competition in the nation. On Nov. 5 and 6 about 115 high schools participated. Here's a look at how Morris County fared: At Giants Stadium, Morris Knolls High School and Roxbury High School marching bands performed, each in different groups.

A Group IV Open band, Morris Knolls competed with 20 other marching bands in this category. Morris Knolls finished with a score of 95.20, taking seventh place. The band also walked away with first place in color guard ordinal and second place in percussion-ordinal. It took sixth place in visual ordinal, seventh place in effect ordinal and ninth place in music ordinal. Thirteen bands competed in the Group VI Open category at Giants Stadium.

Effect and percussion At Hershey Park Stadium, Morris County was represented by Parsippany Hills High Vikings, Mount Olive High School Marching Band and Dover High School Marching Tiger Band. Parsippany and Mount Olive are both in Group IV A. Eight bands competed in this category.

Parsippany Hills took fourth place with a total score of 87.98. It took second place in visual ordinal, fourth place in both music and effect ordinals, and fifth place in both color guard and percussion ordinals. Mount Olive came in sixth place with a score of 85.50. The band took third place in color guard ordinal, fifth place in visual ordinal and sixth place in three categories: music, effect and percussion ordinals. Dover took fourth place in Group finishing with a score of 85.18.

The band competed against three other bands. Dover placed fourth in all of the ordinal categories. Morristown High School Marching Colonials, Jefferson Township Golden Falcon Marching Band and Parsippany High School Red Hawk Marching Band all competed in Group III A at J. Birney Crum Stadium. There were 14 bands in this category.

Morristown took fourth place with a score of 88.25. The band walked away with second place in percussion ordinal, third place ordinal, sixth place in both visual and effect ordinals and eighth place in color guard ordinal.
