MORRIS COUNTY Daily Record, Morris County, N.J., Tuesday, October 23, 2007 A13 Police Blotter Boonton Twp. "A small brush fire caused by a downed telephone pole and wires on Farber Hill Road on Oct. 12 was quickly extinguished by firefighters. Authorities shut down Farber Hill Road at the intersections with Miller Drive and Rockaway Valley Road when the fire was reported at 9:36 a.m. Jersey Central Power Light responded and shut off the power before making repairs.

The road was reopened approximately an hour later. Butler I Joseph Scates, 21, of West Milford was charged with driving while intoxicated on Saturday morning after police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Kiel Avenue. Police discovered Scates had attempted to make a U-turn in the street with his 1994 Chevy, and struck a utility pole at 6:30 a.m. No one was injured in the accident. Scates was also ticketed for reckless driving, having an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle and failure to drive within a single lane.

He was taken to headquarters and released, pending a municipal court appearance. George Weston III, 39, of Wanaque was charged, with driving while intoxicated after police saw him driving the wrong way on a one-way street on Friday night. Police were responding to a report of a possibly intoxicated driver operating a white Ford pick-up truck on Bartholdi Avenue at 11:57 p.m. While en route to that location, police spied Weston driving the wrong way down Carey Avenue. He was ticketed for reckless driving, driving wrong way on a one-way street and failure to wear a seatbelt.

He was taken to headquarters and released, pending a municipal court appearance. Police have responded to calls for assistance recently and had difficulty locating the premises, since the building numbers could not easily be seen or were not displayed at all. Residents are reminded of the borough ordinance requiring the proper numbering of buildings, which states building numbers shall be a minimum of two and a half inches in height, clearly visible on the background to which they are attached, and shall be located in a prominent place on the property so they will be visible from the street. Locations throughout the borough will be checked by police for possible violations, which can result in a summons being issued for the violation. Chatham Twp.

Laura P. Murray, 24, of Glen Rock was arrested Oct. 22. on drunken driving charges. She was charged also with careless driving and refusal to submit to breath tests, and released pending a court appearance.

1 Maththew T. Agel, 42, of Berkeley Heights was detained Oct. 19 on a Newark warrant following a traffic stop, and released pending a court appearance. Michael S. Albert of Scotch Plains was arrested Oct.

20 on drunken driving charges following a traffic stop. He was charged also with speeding, and released pending a court appearance. Jefferson John J. Lent, 42, of Andover, was arrested Saturday on a $1,000 warrant from the township and was turned over to the Morris County jail in lieu of bail. Anne LeBlanc, 41, of Denville, was arrested Wednesday at the scene of a motor vehicle stop for a warrant out of Denville.

She posted bail and was released. A resident along Route 15 south reported on Oct. 15 a blinker and wiring harness for his trailer were ripped out. This cost was roughly $400 in damages. Philip Minnella, 29, of Mount Arlington on Oct.

14, was arrested at the scene of a motor vehicle stop and charged with driving while intoxicated. He was later released. Madison David Francisco, 27, of Sparta was arrested Oct. 17 on a $155 Morris Twp. warrant following a motor vehicle accident, and released pending a court appearance.

Raisa Potiyevsky, 19, of Berkeley Heights was arrested Friday on a $221 Piscataway warrant following a traffic stop, and released pending a court appearance. Pamela McLaughlin, 26, of Florham Park was arrested Oct. 20 on drunken driving charges, following a traffic stop. She was charged also with failure to exhibit documents, and having an open container of alcohol in her vehicle, and released pending a court appearance. Gaetano Fusca, 49, of Scotch Plains was arrested Oct.

20 on drunken driving charges, following a traffic stop. He was charged also with failure to keep right and careless driving, and released pending a court appearance. Jacob Lockett III, 55, of Madison was arrested Oct. 21 on charges of violating a restraining order, and released pending a court appearance. Montville A road rage incident on Saturday afternoon led to weapons possession charges for one Passaic County man, police said.

Jason Daiuto, 19, of Totowa, told police he was driving his black Mazda on Route 46 toward Bloomfield Avenue shortly after 1 p.m. when he was cut off by a driver in a pickup truck. Daiuto told police he was angry and decided to follow the truck. The driver of the other vehicle pulled over when he realized he was being followed, and his passenger jumped out of the truck, screaming at Daiuto, police said. Daiuto told police he backed down when he saw both men, but decided to defend himself with a metal baton he carried in his vehicle.

He allegedly punched the passenger side door of the pick-up, but did not use the weapon, police said. The other driver's passenger saw the weapon, and called police. Daiuto was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and released, pending a municipal court appearance. The other men involved in the altercation were not charged, police said. Jesse Reed, 26, of Sparta, was charged with possession of prescription drugs on Friday afternoon after police pulled him over for driving over a grass median on Route 46 in Pine Brook.

Police found an active warrant for Reed on a burglary charge from Etohaw County in Alabama, and arrested him. During the stop, Reed kept putting his hands in his pockets and his pants. The township's K-9 unit was called to the scene but was unable to find any narcotics in the car. Reed was taken to the Morris County Jail to await extradition to Alabama. While he was waiting to be booked, he continued to put his hands down his pants, police said.

A corrections officer was advised to search Reed, on the belief that he was concealing contraband on himself. The officer allegedly observed a clear baggie of small white pills believed to be Xanax- drop from his pants onto the floor. Reed was charged with possession of prescription drugs. Jessica Vanderhoof, 27, of Scranton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia on Thursday morning after police noticed her parked vehicle on Hook Mountain Road had suspicious plates and a cracked windshield. Vanderhoof allegedly told police her car wasn't registered or insured, and the title was in the glove compartment.

Police noticed a small knife in the compartment when it was opened, and asked both Vanderhoof and her boyfriend to step out of the car. Copper shavings, commonly used in crack pipes, were also seen in plain view on the floor of the car, along with two plastic straws with residue on them. Vanderhoof allegedly admitted to smoking crack earlier in the day and was arrested. Police discovered a warrant from Stroudsburg, Pa for her arrest. She was also ticketed for driving while suspended, unregistered vehicle, fictitious plates, cracked windshield, unsafe tires and no insurance.

She was released, pending a municipal court appearance. Fernando Fernandez, 23, of Las Vegas, was charged with possession of marijuana on Thursday afternoon after police saw his vehicle cross the grass median from Bloomfield Avenue. Police saw a clear baggie containing vegetation believed to be marijuana in plain view when Fernandez produced his registration and insurance at 12:44 p.m. Fernandez allegedly told police the drugs were his. He was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and ticketed for careless driving, driving while unlicensed and improper crossing of the highway.

This report is gathered by Daily Record staff reporters and reflects official police descriptions of the incidents. Mary E. Penn 86, beloved wife, grandmother BERKELEY HEIGHTS Mary E. Penn passed away in Overlook Hospital in Summit on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007.

She was 86. Mrs. Penn was born in Orange and was a lifelong resident of Bloomfield before settling in Berkeley Heights 19 years ago. She worked as a customer accounts representative for the Lehn and Fink Product Co. in Bloomfield for 20 years, followed by supervisor of secretarial services for the Chubb Co.

in Parsippany for 15 years before retiring in 1983. She is remembered as a longtime member of the All Souls Church Rosary Society in East Orange and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Iselin. Mrs. Penn is the beloved wife of Theodore loving mother of John T. Penn of Berkeley Heights, and Robert T.

Penn and his wife, Evelyn of Chatham; dear sister of Charles Mason of Toms River, and Thomas Mason of Forked River; and cherished grandmother of Thomas. The visitation will be held in Ippolito Berkeley Memorial, 646 Springfield Berkeley Heights, N.J. on Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held in the Church of the Little Flower in Berkeley Heights on Thursday, Oct.

(Galdi) Bozzi died on Friday, Oct. 19, 2007 at the Atlantic Care Hospice Unit in Morristown after a short illness. She was 94. Born in Morristown, she was a lifelong resident. She was a chef in the Food Service Department for the Morris School District for 30 years, retiring in 1977.

She attended the Bayley Grammer School in Morristown. She was a member of St. Margaret's Church in Morristown and a member of its St. Gerard's Society. Mom was an excellent Italian cook.

She had many hobbies: sewing, knitting, crocheting, and embroidery. She was a loving, devoted wife, mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Emilio; two brothers, Michael and Aspidito Galdi; and two sisters, Pauline Rocco and Josephine DeRugerio. She is survived by two daughters, Victoria Bozzi of Morristown, and Jessica Terreri and her husband, Don of Morris Plains; a grandson, Paul Terreri of Greenwich, a granddaughter, Beth Gillespie and husband, Jim of Parsippany; three great-grandchildren, Christina, Matthew, and Caitlin Gillespie; two sisters, Anne Helen Plumbo; a sister-in-law, Clementine Sandola; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.

Margaret's Church in Morristown on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 11 a.m. Entombment is at Holy Rood Mausoleum in Morris Township. 07041. Rita Maturo 83, beloved mother ORANGEBURG, N.Y. Rita Maturo, longtime Rockland County resident, died on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at Northern Manor nursing facility in Nanuet. She was 83.

Mrs. Maturo was employed for many years at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern and was an inspiration to all of those who knew her, including, most of all, her loving son, Marc and; daughter, Ann Marie of Mountain Lakes. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis, and another daughter, Diane. She also leaves behind six loving grandchildren, Jay and Heather Blanda, Britt Dignes, and Michael, Louis and Justin Maturo. She was known for her fierce spirit and for being a maestro i in the kitchen.

Steven Bechtold officiating. She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church in Marietta, Ga. Survivors include her husband, Mark A. Hoffacker of Woodstock, her parents, Charles and Caroline Aumick of Woodstock, her brother, Charles Gregory Aumick of Woodstock, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. (23) Patrick J. Walsh Sr. 51, dedicated family man ROXBURY Twp. Patrick J. Walsh Sr.

died on Sunday Oct. 21, 2007 in Toms River. He was 51. Born in Pittston, Mr. Walsh resided in the Port Morris section of Roxbury Township prior to moving to Roxbury's Landing section 28 years ago.

He was a graduate of Roxbury High School Class of 1974. He was a carpenter for Pat Pat Carpentry of Landing, which he owned and operated. Mr. Walsh loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, traveling to the Jersey Shore and going to Bruce Springsteen concerts. All of these activities, he enjoyed most when he could share them with his family.

He was a loving husband of 28 years of Leslie (Molitoris); beloved father of Alison at home and the late Patrick J. who passed in 2006; dearest brother of Joseph and wife, Sharon of Wantage, Jerry and wife Carol of Landing, Thomas and wife Margie of Kenvil and the late Judith Townsend, who passed in 2006; cherished son-in-law of Lillian and Andrew Molitoris of Ledgewood; and beloved brother-law of Lori Baker and husband Mark of Succasunna, and Lee Blackburn and husband Bill of Illinois. Rosti Sorochynskyj 64, design engineer BOONTON Twp. Rosti Sorochynskyj died on Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at his residence in Boonton Township, following a long illness. He was 64. Born in Lutsk, Ukraine, he came to this country in 1949.

He lived in Boonton Township for 42 years, coming from Boonton. Mr. Sorochynskyj was currently a design engineer at CurtisWright in Fairfield. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lydia (Horodnik); son, Nicholas and his wife, Judith of Boonton; daughter, Elaina Young and her husband, Craig of Lebanon Township; mother, Olena (Myrniuk) of Dover; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Emily, Kirk and Alexandria; brother, Ilary of Mahwah; and a sister, Platonida Kowalyk of Clifton. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct.

14891, or Farmsanctuary.org. Edward DeVincentis 82, grandfather, veteran Edward DeVincentis of Morristown died on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007. He was 82. Raised in Rochester, N.

Y. he was the son of Gedeone and Anna De Vincentis. He graduated Duquesne University with a B.S. in chemistry. He proudly served the military in World War II as a paramedic.

He was a brilliant and humorous man who enjoyed a successful career as a senior district manager in the Pfizer Labs, where he worked for over 40 years. His accomplishments also included being partowner of Redwood Nursing Home in East Orange, and past president of the Ocean Towers Condo Association. Despite all of his accomplishments, the true joy of his life was his family. His relationship with his wife was one admired by his children and friends. He was a very caring, generous man and was an inspiration to his family.

His absence will be felt every day. He will be missed and always remembered by his loving wife, Erlinda; daughter Donna and her husband, Paul Plaskon; and daughter, Susan and her husband, Mark Novembre. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Emily and Lauren. A funeral service for Mr. De Vincentis will be held on Thursday, Oct.

Jackie Orin Jones 56, general contractor Jackie Orin Jones died on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 in his res- idence. He was 56. He lived in Hackettstown for three years, coming from the Budd area, and was born in Becken, W.Va. on Aug.

5, 1951. He worked as a general contractor, and was a member of the Moose Lodge in Hackettstown. He was the son of the late Jessie J. and Ruth Ann Kiser Jones. He is survived by three daughters, Sherri Lin Jones of Boonton, Debbie Fletcher of Newton, and Julia Jones of Hackettstown; two brothers, Charlie and Donny Jones; a sister, Betty; and three grandchildren, Jesse, Randi and Logan.

Hema Wijerama 68, loving grandmother LEDGEWOOD Hema Wijerama, of Ledgewood passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 at Saint Clare's Hospital in Dover, following a short illness.

She was 68. She was a resident of Ledgewood since 2000, having moved here from Plymouth, prior to that she resided in New York City, N. Y. Mrs. Wijerama was born in Diyatalawa, Sri Lanka.

She had worked as a teacher at Prince of Wales College in Sri Lanka retiring in 1977 after 20 years. Dur i Teachers College in Sri Lanka she excelled in many sports. She continued her love of sports and fitness throughout her life. She loved singing, music and dance. She sang on the radio and won dancing competitions.

She devoted her life to her children and all her family. She was a loving grandmother who was involved in raising her grandchildren since birth. She is survived by Norbert, her husband of 44 years; and two sons, Roshan of Randolph, and Manjula of New York, NY. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Devin and Riana; her sister, Podihamine Gallindawatta of Sri Lanka and many family members in Sri Lanka as well as many loving friends. Funeral services will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph at 1 p.m.

at the funeral home. Josephine Collins 98, mother MORRISTOWN Josephine Collins died on Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 at Pine Acres Nursing Home in Madison after a short illness. She was 98. Born and raised in Co.

Roscommon, Ireland, she emigrated to America, arriving in Morristown in May of 1928. She worked for many years catering to the affluent families of Morristown and surrounding areas, marrying from her place of employment, the Thomas family home at 80 Miller Road in 1938. She was a parishioner at the Church of the Assumption in Morristown. She was a dedicated lady whose greatest joy was spending time with her family. She was the "Official Starter" of the 1999 Morris County St.

Patrick's Day Parade, "a woman who exemplifies all the great qualities of the Irish people." She was the daughter of the late John and Kate Anne Flynn of Ireland. The eldest of six children, she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Flynn, Kathleen McGuire and Lavina Keaveney; and her brother, John Flynn Jr. Her husband, Michael, died in 1977, and her daughter, Margaret Dieffenbach died in 2000. She is survived by her loving children, Joe and Mary of Morristown, and Michael of Morris Township; and her loving grandchildren, Dr. Eric Dieffenbach of Fairfield, Krista Berry of Belmar, Dana Zeig of Bordentown, and Dr.

Darron Collins of Decatur, Ga. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren, Uma, Hope and Wynne Dieffenbach, Charlotte and Willem Berry, Jillian and Ryan Zeig, and Maggie and Molly Collins; her sister, Lily Albertson of Capetown, South Africa; and many dear nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Assumption in Morristown on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 9:30 a.m. Interment is at Holy Rood Cemetery in Morris Township.
