0. Phillips made the statement to clarify rumors that St. James is denying Central students admission because it lacks space for them and because they refuse to take an entrance examination. "That (the rumor) is totally untrue," Phillips said. "In our ninth through 12th grades, we have a schedule prepared and have a high school staffed with teachers that we could accommodate 50 additional students as of today." Phillips said St.

James accepts new students on the basis of their academic record, conduct record and their performance on a standardized test. Central headmaster Frank King said he had not heard the rumors himself, Girls State for 25 years as counselor, director and chairman. She currently is an adviser to the board of trustees and the Girls State Committee. More than 6,250 women have completed the Girls State program under her leadership. Mrs.

Waite initiated and developed the Lillian Pugh Andrews Girls State Scholarship fund, named for a former national president of the American Legion Auxiliary, which sponsors Girls State. Drug raid arrests could reach 16 SELMA Arrests of people suspected of dealing in drugs in Dallas County reached nine Thursday and Sheriff W.D. "Cotton" Nichols said the total could hit 16 before the raids end. Asked if she thought the lack of a college degree would hurt her in the race, Mrs. Gravlee said, "I don't have a degree, but I do have an education; some people have a degree, but no education." Besides experience in private industry, Mrs. Gravlee said she worked for 3Vi years on former Gov.

George Wallace's office staff. She was appointed executive assistant to the state auditor in October 1977.
