Mr. Husted said this was not- the time for the discussion of this question.

He moved the question, which was ordered. The question on Duganne's amendment was lost, there being only three or four affirmative votes. The original resolution was then adopted by a very large affirmative vote, only three or four voting negative. (Loud applause). A recess was then taken for one hour.

When the Convention was again called to order, the President said he had been anxious to consult the wishes of the delegates of the different districts, but 50 names having been suggested for 16 places, he found much difficulty in avoiding the great responsibility. The Chair stated that during the afternoon session it had been observed that persons not delegates took part in the proceedings of the Convention. He, therefore, at the request of the Convention, appointed four seargeants-at-arrus, and requested all not members to take seats at the back part of the Hall. Mr.

Wagner, of New York, moved that a vote of thanks be tendered the Common Council of Ctica, for the tender of the free use of the Hall, and a copy of the resolution be sent to them. Adopted.
