He retired from Chandler Evans in 1978. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army Air Force. He is survived by his wife, Eliza (Ramos) Barbeau; a daughter, Mary Doane of Suffield; a step son, Roy Anderson of Meriden; and three grandchildren, Thomas and Richard Doane, and Laurie Schmelh. William J. Boland, 73, of Litchfield Court, Middletown, husband of Eveline (Wood) Boland died Thursday, (April 25, 2002) at the Middlesex Hospital. Born on June 4, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY. He had been a resident of Middletown for many years. A member of St.

John Church, Middletown. A member of the B.P.O.E. Elks 771 Middletown. Mr. Boland retired as a Bus Driver for the Conn.

Transit Bus. Co. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Kenneth Boland of Japan, Bruce Boland of Westfield, MA; two daughters, Teresa Burrage and Marie Brown, both of Middletown, Sandy Vazquez of New Haven; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; also several and nephews. Brown. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, and was the daughter of the late Louis and Frances Canavan Bradley. Mrs. Brown was a former member of the Old Saybrook Womens Club, former president of the Essex and New Haven Womens Club, also an avid golfer and former member of the Clinton Country Club. She is survived by four second cousins, James and Philip Lauster of Las Vegas, NV, John Lauster of San Rafael, CA and Mary Kneeland of Mason, NH.

DEATH NOTICES BLANEY, Philip George Philip George Blaney, of Hamilton Court, Enfield, loving husband of the late Frances Scolsky Blaney, father of three, grandfather of nine, and great grandfather nine, passed away peacefully Thursday, (April 25, 2002) at St. Francis Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 86. Raised in Suffield, the son of Charles and May Blaney, he was a graduate of Suffield Academy attended Providence College. He was an Enfield police officer for many years and later became director of transportation and attendance for the Enfield school system.

He lived in Thompsonville and, for the past 41 years, in the Hazardville section of Enfield. Phil is survived by his children, Dennis Blaney his wife Gail of Andover, NH, and their children, Darlene, Corrine and Kimberly; Patricia Blaney Goddard and her husband Stephen of Hartford, and their children, Taegan, Bradley and Chelsey; and Michael Blaney of Enfield, and his children, Darren, Robert and Jeffrey; and his sisters, Jean Blaney, August of Madison, and Doris Blaney Kwiecienski of Enfield. He was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Purdy. A former semi-professional football player with the Thompsonville Greys, Phil won a football scholarship to Providence College. He played golf for several decades and in spite of his illness, took to the links as recently as this Spring.

In 1998, he was inducted into the inaugural class Enfield Sports Hall of Fame. Inured suffering, he was a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox. Phil was devoted to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who looked forward eagerly to his Sunday afternoon backyard barbecues and impromptu softball games. But his greatest love was reserved for his wife of 63 years, Fran, "Nana" to her progeny. When she'd leave a room, even in her advanced years, Phil could be counted on to remark, Isn't she beautiful?" An ardent FDR Democrat, Phil took great partisan interest in politics and current events and never minced words in decrying the opposition.

Calling hours will be Sunday, April 28, 5-8 p.m., at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield. The funeral will be held on Monday, April 29, with a procession at 9:15 a.m. from the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., in Holy Family Church, 23 Simon Road, Enfield. Burial will be held in Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. Contributions in Phil's name may be made to the St.

BOSCHER, Irene (Misovich) Irene (Misovich) Boscher, 87, of Manchester, formerly of New York City, NY, widow Victor Boscher died Friday, (April 26, 2002) at a local convalescent home. Born November 30, 1914 in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Michael and Sadie (Simovich) Misovich she had been a resident of New York City, NY for over 60 years until moving to Manchester in 1995. She was employed as a waitress for several New York City, NY area restaurants until her retirement. Mrs.

Boscher is survived by a brother, Michael Misovich and his wife, Ella of Manchester, their children, Sheila and her husband, Brian Wheeler of East Hampton, and their children, Scott, Michael, and Eric, Marlene and her husband, Russell Couch of Tolland, and their children, Salena and Pamela, Allison and her husband, William Munroe of Andover, Christine and her husband, Stephen McKenzie of Hebron, and their children, Keith and Kimberly; a sister, Ann Hanko of Manchester, and her children, Ronald Hanko and his wife, Joan of Bolton, and their daughter, Stephanie, and Kenneth Hanko of Vernon; a sister, Ernestine Yaworski and her husband, Stephen of Manchester, and their children, Stephen Yaworski and his wife, Terry of Tolland, and their children, Josh and Michael, David Yaworski of Manchester, and Robert Yaworski of Manchester; a sister, Mary Johnson of East Hartford and her son, Craig Johnson and his wife, Mary of East Hartford, and their children, Drew Johnson, Matthew Becker Kerry Becker. He was the oldest of six children and is survived by four sisters and a brother of Ontario. He is also survived by his children, Linda, Bob, Anne, Jay, Paul, Mary, Theresa, John and Kathy, their spouses and many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Robert was employed at Emhart Corp. as a Chief Engineer before retiring to Canada. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Eh! Winifred Cyr Clavet, 71, of Old Colony Tracy section of Wallingford, died Thursday, (April 25, 2002) in the Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME. She was the wife of Thaddee Clavet. Born in Grand Falls, New Brunswick, Canada, February 11, 1931, a daughter of the late Louis and Anna Bosse, she was a Wallingford resident for 46 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Besides her husband, she is survived by her three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and William Gagne of Wallingford, Lise and Armand Couture of Meriden, and Ann Clavet of Wallingford; her grandchildren, Shanelle King, Ryan Gagne, Nicholas Couture and Danielle Couture; her two great-grandchildren, Alexia Jandreau and Katelynn Couture; her two sisters, Annette Dube of Lawrence, MA, and Raymonde Landry of St.

Francis, New Brunswick, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joyce M. Clavet; and her son, Chanel Clavet. Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Wallingford Sunday, 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, 9 a.m.

COHN, Janet (Stone) DEATH NOTICES CLAVET, Winifred Cyr Janet (Stone) Cohn, 92, of West Hartford, widow of her beloved Yale Cohn, passed away at home Thursday (April 25, 2002) with her family beside her. Born in New York City, she grew up in Brooklyn, NY, Springfield, MA, and Rockville. She lived in Hartford for many years before moving to West Hartford in 1964.

She was a published poet and artist, active in the community and the Democratic Party. She was a justice of the peace, who at the age of 91 performed her granddaughter's wedding ceremony. She played an active role in the family business, The Bostonian Fishery, which Yale started in 1932. She was a member of Beth David Synagogue. She was the loving and beloved matriarch of her family to whom she gave unselfish devotion.

Valedictorian of Rockville High School, she continued learning all of her life. Her creative talent, which included soap carving, crocheting, and knitting in addition to her painting, filled the homes of those she loved. Janet is survived by her two devoted daughters and sons-inlaw, Barbara and Mark Gordon of West Hartford and Deanne and Harvey Stone of Framingham, MA; four grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew and Susan Gordon of Manchester, Matt Stone of Framingham, MA, Tracy Gordon Fox and Bruce Fox of Colchester, and Alison Stone and Michael Morales of Nyack, NY. She also leaves six great grandchildren who adored her. was predeceased by her parents, three sisters and a brother.

The Funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 28, at 10 a.m. at the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Hartford. Internment will be at the Beth David Cemetery, Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield. Memorial week will be observed at her late residence from Sunday through Tuesday and from Wednesday to Friday in Framingham, MA. COLLETTI, John A. John A. Colletti, 47, of Largo, FL, formerly of East Hartford and Manchester, devoted father and much brother and uncle, died Tuesday (April 23, 2002) at Suncoast Hospital, Largo, FL. He was born June 19, 1954 in New York, NY and was a son of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Depasquale) Colletti.

John was raised in East Hartford, graduating from East Hartford High School and had resided in Manchester for 25 years, before moving to Florida in 1994. He was a Quality Assurance Inspector, employed at SIFCO Industries Tampa, FL, and was a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He was active in sports, being an umpire and referee for many years, both in Florida and Connecticut. John is survived by hischildren, Cheryl Colletti, Robyn Colletti, Lisa Colletti and Michael Colletti, all of Largo, FL; two sisters, Lucille Vernali and her husband Anthony of Manchester, and Mary Yagmin of Wethersfield; two brothers, Anthony Colletti and his wife Gerlinde, and Thomas Colletti and his wife Barbara, all of Manchester; a sister-inlaw, Eileen Colletti and a brotherin-law, Charles Avery, both of Manchester; a cherished friend, Charlene Bailin of Florida; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Angela Colletti and Carmenita C. Avery; and a brother, Joseph M. Colletti. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 30, 9 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m.

at Church of the Assumption, 29 South Adams Street, Manchester, Burial will be Mary Cemetery, East Hartford. Family and friends may call Monday, April 29, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Shirley M. Cooley, 67, died Wednesday, (April 24, 2002), in Brunswick, ME following a long illness.

Mrs. Cooley was born Shirley Merriman in Harpswell, ME. She graduated from Mount Ida Junior College and was employed by the former Hartford Times. She married Windsor native William G. Cooley, in 1956.

Mrs. Cooley worked in the Monroe School System and later returned from the J.M. Ney Co. of Bloomfield. She returned to Maine in 1996.

Mrs. Cooley spent many hours volunteering with the homeless and the elderly. She was also an ardent lover of animals and her pet cat was a great comfort to her during her illness. In 1986, Mrs. Cooley received a kidney transplant and the family has requested all floral arrangements to be ordered through the National Kidney Foundation by calling 1-800-OURGIFT.

Cooley, of Rocky Hill; her sister Georgia Hindley, of Freeport, ME; her brothers-in-law, John K. Cooley, of South Windsor, and George M.

Cooley of Boynton Beach, FL as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 1978 and by her brother, Weston A. Merriman. A memorial service and visitation will be held Monday, April 29, 2-3 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave.

Cote, 76, of beloved wife of the late Wallace J. Cote, passed away peacefully Thursday (April 25, 2002) at St. Francis Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in New Britain, daughter of the late William and Tekla Weksner. She was also predeceased by her brothers Louis, Leo.

Peter, John, Anthony and Chester Weksner; and a sister Bertha Fennelly. She is also survived by her brother, Edward Weksner of New Britain. Jennie and Wallace were childhood sweethearts, married in 1945, while Wallace was in the US Army Air Corp. where he served as a medic, they lived in Wilmington, DE until he was discharged from the service with honors. They made their home in Hartford until they were able to purchase a house in Wethersfield where they lived together for 45 years.

Jennie worked for Mediplex of Wethersfield for 38 years as a head housekeeper. Jennie was a kind, loving devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The greatest joy of her life was helping to care for her great granddaughter Kaya who lovingly referred to her as 'GREE'. Her gentle and unselfish mannerism made it easy for all who knew her to love her and appreciate her friendship. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and William Kleczkowski of Newington; grandson Ryan Kleczkowski of Newington; granddaughter and grandson, Jennifer Kleczkowski and Christopher Barnes and great granddaughter Kaya Barnes.

Funeral will I be Monday, April 29, 9:15 a.m. from the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill, followed by a Mass' of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.

Calling hours are Sun. April 28, 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. CROCKER, Dorothy (Jennings) Dorothy (Jennings) Crocker, 94, of Manchester, widow of Charles E. Crocker died Thursday, (April 25, 2002) at a local convalescent home.

Born March 8, 1908 in Summerville, MA, daughter of the late J. Frank and Alice (Andrews) Jennings she had been a resident of Manchester for most of her life. Mrs. Crocker was a member of South United Methodist Church in Manchester. She was a volunteer at the Manchester Memorial Hospital Gift Shop and the PennySaver for over 50 years, a life member of the Manchester Garden Club, a charter member of the Manchester Historical Society, and a member of the Horticultural Society.

Mrs. Crocker is survived by many. dear friends including, Grace Barnett of New York, NY, Marjorie Martin of Bolton, Susan and Andreas Papanicolaou of Minneapolis, MN, Cortland and Nanette Gray of Manchester, Elizabeth and Paul Wicks of Manchester, Agnes Conduah of Vernon, Robert and Marjorie Knight of Manchester, Bette Beebe of Talcottville, Mary Patterson of. Dumas, died peacefully on Thursday, (April 25, 2002) at her home after along and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hartford, the daughter of Arthur and Rose (Jordan) Orfitelli, she had lived in Manchester for 23 years. In 2000, she retired from Manchester Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse in the maternity ward.

Helen was a member and prayer warrior of the Mt. Zion Fellowship in Bolton. She was a drama coach, a puppeteer and loved anything related to children. Besides her husband, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Sarah and David Hughes of Manchester, Ryan and Amy Dumas of Williamsport, MD and Keith Dumas of Santa Barbara, CA; her brother, Arthur Orfitelli of Manchester; her brother-in-law, Art Thomas; and many beloved nieces and nephews, Kevin and Missy Thomas, Lynn Thomas, Glen and Elsie Orfitelli, Mark and Debbie Orfitelli, Kerri Kitteringham; her adopted grandchildren as well as her own grandson, Ethan David Hughes; and many dear and close friends. He was the husband of Antoinette Forte Aritta; father of Anne Aritta Darling and husband, Bruce of North Granby and Joseph J. Aritta and wife, Angela of New Milford; grandfather of Daniel, Jessica and David Lee Darling; brother of Carmela Forgione of New Haven, Andrew Aritta of No. Branford and Anthony Aritta of Meriden; son of the late Joseph and Mary Pardo Aritta. He attended the Perry Institute in Yakima, WA.

He was an Air Force veteran of World War and a crane operator for 31 years for Detroit Steel, formerly of Hamden, retiring in 1981. Vinnie was a person who was full of life. He loved his family with all of his heart. He always had time to listen and help us. He loved his grandchildren and their friends.

During family get togethers, Grandpa Vinnie would be outside playing with all of the kids. He was a friend to them all. He enjoyed walking everyday, gardening and wood working. He taught his children and grandchildren how to build their own toys. He was always able to turn life into something enjoyable.

Grandpa Vinnie always lived life to the fullest. Thank you Daddy and Grandpa for the many priceless times that are now part of us all. We will love you forever. Funeral in HAMDEN MEMORIAL, 1300 Dixwell Monday at 10:15 a.m. Mass at 11 a.m.

Born in New York City, he was the son of Louis and Ethel (Wenarsky) Epstein. He was the beloved husband of the late Edith (Lobel) Epstein for 54 years. Chick moved to Morristown, NJ, with his family when he was a boy and was a 1930 graduate of Morristown High School. He entered the U.S. Army in February 1941.

During World War he served as a Tech Sergeant in the 1st Armored Division and saw service in North Africa and Italy. After the war, he and his brother Morris acquired American Auto Parts in Morristown, NJ that he ran until his retirement. Chick and Edith made their home in Morristown, NJ since their marriage in 1947 until Edith's death on January earlier this year. They are survived by their children, Samuel S. Epstein of Issaqua, WA, Ann and her husband David Brandwein of West Hartford, Andrew E.

Epstein of Long Beach, NY, and Thomas A. Epstein, of Providence, RI; and four grandchildren, Aaron Epstein of Weimar, Germany and Rachel Epstein of Swarthmore, PA, and Matthew Brandwein and Alix Brandwein of West Hartford. Chick is also survived by his sisters, Bertha Haas and Dora Schoenberg and many brothers-and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Chick was predeceased by his brothers, Morris and Nathan; and his sister, Jenny. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at the Dangler Funeral Home at 600 Speedwell Avenue in Morris Plains, NJ with interment immediately following at Beth Israel Cemetery in Morris Plains, NJ.

GWOREK, Elizabeth (Bretschneider) rek, 82, of Manchester, wife of Raymond Gworek, her loving husband of 59 years, died unexpectedly Friday, (April 26, 2002) at Manchester Memorial Hospital. She was born March 21, 1920 in Glastonbury and had resided in Manchester for more than 50 years. She was a communicant of St. Bridget Church.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Gworek is survived by two daughters, Carol Chrzanowski and her husband, Jan of Newington and Sister Sharon Elizabeth Gworek of Toledo, OH; two sisters, Ann Gray of Westfield, MA and Catherine Gibbons of Florida; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be Monday, April 29, 9:15 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m.

at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main Street, Manchester. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Manchester. Family and friends may call Sunday, April 28, 4-7 p.m.
