One of the ways Rev. Wallace attempts to accomplish this task is by writing articles for the American Heritage Theological Rev.

Wallace received his doctorate of ministry in evangelism from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washing- ton, D.C. He became the pastor of Waugh Chapel UM Church in 1994. He is an elder and full member in the Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conference under Bishop Marcus Matthews. He actively serves in many conference and community organizations, including service as a clergy mentor and is an advocate for equality and justice according to scriptural interpretations and theological mandates. His faith motto is, give up on God.

Planning for Heritage Day events are East New Market Heritage Committee members including, from the left, Mary Turner, Herschel Johnson, Chairwoman Marva Sampson, George Coleman, Doretha Abraham, Rev. The East New Market Heritage Committee will celebrate its sixth Heritage weekend at Faith Community United Methodist Church, with special events this Saturday, Oct. 6, focusing on the life of Rev. Samuel Green, who had been a trustee of what was then Mount Zion UM Chuch in East New Market, the place where Green was arrested 150 years ago this year for possessing a copy of, for which he served five years of a 10-year prison sentence.

Events at Faith Community UM Church will begin Saturday with breakfast served from 7 to 11 a.m. Luncheon will be served starting at noon and carry-outs will be available. At 11 a.m. a program about the life of Rev. Samuel Green will begin, featuring a play written and produced by local playwright Barry O.

Foreman, recreating the events of 1857, including trial at the Dorchester County Courthouse in Cambridge. The play will also be performed again in the afternoon. Faith Community Pastor Jonathan Whitney made a recent pilgrimage to Nigeria, an experience which he says convinced him that African Americans owe it to their ancestors to trace their roots. Part of this past involves the story of Rev. Green.
