But for Buffalo State head football coach Jerry Boyes, it was easy.

It came with 3:08 to play in the third quarter of his team's electrifying 42-35 victory over Ithaca College Saturday at Coyer Field. The win not only gave his team (7-2) an NCAA playoff berth, but took one away from Ithaca (7-3). Boyes' team, down 28-19 late in the third quarter, was backed up to its own five-yard line after botching an Ithaca kickoff. Buffalo State had just given up a touchdown to go down by nine, and was faced with a third-and- Yale need to lose to Columbia and Harvard, respectively, to create a three-way tie for the championship. Ricky Rahne had another big day for Cornell, as he completed 28-of-40 passes for 320 yards and four touchdowns.

Rahne upped his season passing-yardage total to 2,466, breaking the school record of 2,255 set four years ago by Steve Joyce. "We've had a problem stopping the pass all year," Lions coach Ray Tellier said. "We struggled again today."
