We would suggest that when the acts of the Legislature just adjourned are printed and compiled in book form, it would greatly facilitate reference if, instead of being arranged according to their numbers as heretofore, the public acts were all placed together and distinct from the private bills.

Jamaica Mails. A gentleman of our acqukia lance doing business at Kingston, Jamaica, in letter of the 33d oIL to a friend in this city, com plains bitterly of the manner in which the Ame rican mail steamer entering that port treat their postal service there The Uncle Sam and Geor gia, for instance, came in here the day before yesterday, and in their hurry to get off refused to wait five minutes for tbe mails, deceiving the poet office and leaving passengers behind by sail ing several hours before their advertised time." E7 In referring to the union of action aad the interests of parties who are building the New Orleans and Texas telegraph lines a few days aince.it was stated that out gentleman connected therewith had withdrawn entirely from the con cern. It should have been stated tnat ne was about to sell bis interest therein to the parties uamed, as a division of the force upon all the routes would grestly expedite the work. Pacixo Match. We learn that a large num. ber of the friends of the veteran Brougb, the manager of Gottsehalk's concerts, sre getting up a complimentary entertainment lor nis neneni, in which young Gottachalk has kindly consented to take part as a performer.

We hope Brougb will give us a chance on the occasion of once more bearing his fine basso voice and fine old songs. Yovno Oottschalk. There wa desire to hear him in classic music, snd although to the 01 peliot Beethoven Is a closed snd incom prehensible book. Charlea Howard will be largely attended sad greatly approved of. Tbe oc cation is one em inently calculated to attract tbe beat clam of oar theatre going population, and the plays selected are such aa cannot tail, if performed as the casta would indicate that they will be, of receiving very aea applause. The final and fare well benefit of an actress so well and ao widely known, so popular and so attractive, ao much esteemed, and for so loaf a time, would be aa event la any city In this It will an event of considerable Import and will, doubt lew, in aoste way or other, be especially noticed. Letter frem Baltlmere. 8pecial Correspondence of the Picayune. Balttmosk, April 28 6 r. m. I learn from a source which is entitled to credit that Louis Napoleon, in concert with the young Empress, bas extended a friendly invita tion to his relatives, the Bonapartes in this city, to visit France.

The family here, a son and grandchildren or Jerome Bonaparte, Napoleon's brother, are in the line of promotion, in fact to the imperial crown. Jerome Bonaparte, the grand nephew or old Napoleon, is a young man about twenty two years of age, and belongs to the U. S. Army, having graduated at West Point He is a young gentleman of remarkable personal attractions, and noted for his intelligence, amia bility of character, Ac Not the slightest osten tation attaches itself to him. This youthful lin ealtascendsnt of the renowned Corsican, hs, I am informed, accepted the imperial invitation.

and purposes visiting Paris soon, for which pur pose he hs, or is sbout obtaining, leave of absence from the President for six months. This looks like a disposition upon the part of his imperial highness to cultivate friendly feelings, not only with his consanguineous relations, but with our Government Mrs. Bonaparte, the first wife of Jerome Bona parte, and who was a Miss Patterson, of Balti more, still resides in our city. She is about sev enty years of age, very sprightly and immensely rich. The nephew of old Napoleon and father of young Jerome who contemplates visiting France, is a man about forty years or sge and altogether unpretending, He is said to be the best likeness or his uncle ever aeen, and from all portraits of the distinguished Emperor, I am inclined to think this correct His peculiar passion is a love of good horses.

This seems to be the climax of his ambition. He keeps the beet stud of animals in the country, The World's Fair in New York is beginning to attract mnch attention.
