Soybeans were off to cents. corn off to wheat off to and oats up to off 1 cent.

Prices opened lower and tumbled even further before noon on liquidation and selling pressure. Heavy commission house and professional selling was reported in the soybean bushels pit. One professional firm sold 12 million of May and July and another firm sold 10 mil. lion bushels of July. The July contracted penetrated the $8 level early and could not recover.

The lack of bids forced prices even lower. Corn also ended the day lower as traders could not ignore losses in the soy complex. Professionals and commission houses were featured sellers of corn on ideas the wet, cool weekend weather predicted earlier will not be os severe as expected. Joseph S. Pasek Joseph S. Pasek, Thursday at Wesley ter, Wichita. He was born Nov. 8, 1922, in East St.

Louis, Mo. Mr. Pasek retired in July 1973 from the U.S. Air Force after serving 30 years. He had been sta- 61, Rt.

1, died Medical CenMr. Pasek tioned at Smoky Hill Air Force Base from 1946 until 1948, at Schilling Air Force Base from 1960 to 1966, and at McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita, at the time he retired. He was a member of the St. Mary's, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, 4th degree, the Salina Moose Lodge and the Salina VFW. Surviving are his wife, Mildred, of the home; a son, Joseph, Phoenix, three daughters, Katherine C.

Rider, 1221 Crescent; Jean Marie Pasek and Theresa Ann Pasek, both of the home; a sister, Mrs. Veronica Beranek, St. Louis; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the St.

Mary's, Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, the Rev. William Surmeler officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday at the Ryan Mortuary. Dorothy H. West LINDSBORG Dorothy H. West, 91, Lindsborg, died Wednesday at the Bethany Home, Lindsborg. She was born Aug.

23, 1892, in Sweden. She was a homemaker who moved to Lindsborg in 1977 from Lanyon, Iowa. Her husband, Paul, died in 1973. Mrs. West was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, Lindsborg.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Doris Osborne, Denver, and two stepgrandchildren. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Rev. Loyd Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, Lindsborg.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Anderson Funeral Home, Lindsborg. Memorials may be made to the church memorial fund. Francis L. Finnesy NATOMA Francis L.

Finnesy, 86, Natoma, died Tuesday at the Lucas Rest Home, Lucas. Mr. Finnesy was born Oct. 11, 1897, in Natoma, and was a lifelong resident of the community. He was a farmer and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainville.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie, of the home; a son, James, Boulder, two daughters, Leola Finnesy, Littleton, and Frances Koeltzow, Sagamaw, and nine grandchildren. The funeral will be at noon Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call until the service at Mosher's Funeral Home, Plainville. Miss Josie May Robison Miss Josie May Robison, 88, Scandia, died Thursday at the Heartland Care Center, Belleville.

Miss Robison was born March 11, 1896, in rural Scandia. She was a clerk for the city of Scandia for 26 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the United Methodist Church, both of Scandia. She is survived by two sisters, Edna Robison and Adah Robison, both of Scandia. The funeral will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Scandia, the Rev. Don-Pellett-Noble officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Scandia. The Bachelor-Faulkner-Dart Funeral Home, Scandia, is in charge. School notes Ann C.

O'Connor, daughter of Mrs. Marilyn O'Connor, 638 Albert has been awarded the Josephine B. Fugate Scholarship at Wichita State University. She is a senior at Sacred Heart High School. The $1,100 renewable scholarship is provided to 10 students who will in Brennon Hall II.

They are selected for leadership potential and academic records. Anne Hoover, 1314 Funston, has been initiated into Phi Eta Sigma, scholastic honor society for freshman, at Kansas State University. She is a 1983 graduate of Salina South High School. Mary B. Alderson DELPHOS Mary B.

Alderson, 87, Delphos, died Wednesday at her home. Mrs. Alderson was born May 18, 1897, in Lamar, and was a lifelong resident of Cloud and Ottawa counties. She was a homemaker and a member of the Town and Country Club, Delphos. She is survived by her husband, John of the home; two daughters, Clema Copple and Maxine Copple, and two sons, Marvin and Dale, all of Delphos; 19 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Delphos United Methodist Church, the Revs. James Flick, Claude McMinn and Lowell Gilger officiating. Burial will be in the Delphos Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association.

Friends may call until 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia. Mrs. Reeta C. Predmore CONCORDIA Mrs.

Reeta C. Predmore, 82, Concordia, died Wednesday at the St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia. She was born May 7, 1901, at Selden. She lived in the Aurora and Concordia communities all her married life.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church. Her husband, Carl, died in 1982. She is survived by two daughters, Lila Clark, Glasco, and Patty Ouellette, Clyde; three sons, William, Silver Lake; Duane, Concordia, and Reynard, Beatrice, three sisters, Inez Heagney, Selden; Dulcie Davis, Hoxie, and Preppa Comer, San Antonio, Texas; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Mt.

Joseph Care Home Chapel, Concordia, the Rev. Stephen Letourneau officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Chapel, Concordia.

Memorials may be sent to the Intensive Care Unit at St. Joseph Hospital, Concordia. Joseph K. Melhus SCANDIA Joseph K. Melhus, 83, Scandia, died Wednesday at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville.

Mr. Melhus was born April 1, 1901, on a farm in Norway Township in Republic County. He was a retired farmer. He moved to Scandia from the Norway area five or six years ago. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Norway, and the Scandia Lions Club.

Surviving are his wife, Clara, of the home; two sons, LaVern, Concordia, and Harold, Scandia, and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Norway, the Rev. Kenn Nil-' son officiating. Burial will be in Norway Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Tibbetts Bros. Funeral Home, Belleville, or at the church after 9 a.m. Saturday. Gladys Woods Foster The funeral for Gladys Woods Foster, 81, formerly of 930 N. Eighth, will be at 10 a.m.

Saturday at the Geisendorf Rush Smith Funeral Home, the Rev. N. Rene' Colaw officiating. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery. Mrs.

Foster died Tuesday at the Kenwood View Nursing Home. Weather Lorren J. Marker MANHATTAN Lorren J. Marker, 63, Manhattan, died Wednesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Topeka. Mr.

Marker was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Ozawkie, and was a 40-year resident of Manhattan. He was a general contractor for the Marker Construction Company, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Manhattan. He is survived by his wife, Barabara A. Defenbaugh, of the home; two sons, Douglas, Grand Junction, and Todd, Manhattan; two daughters, Susan Rosencutter, Craig, Connie Grant, Topeka; his mother, Ora, Manhattan; a brother, Homer, Manhattan; a sister, Louise Rowe, Salina; and six grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today at the Cowan-Edwards-Yorgensen Funeral Home, Manhattan, the Rev. Charles Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Valley View Memorial Gardens, east of Manhattan. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.

Friends may call at the funeral home until the service. Margaret K. Mayes RUSSELL Margaret K. Mayes, 81, Russell, died Wednesday at the Russell City Hospital. Mrs.

Mayes was born Nov. 13, 1902, in Gray County, and moved to Russell in the early 1950s. She was a retired employee of the Russell City Hospital. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, John of the home; three daughters, Mary Schurr, Osborne; Margaret Bonnett, Topeka, and Shirley A.

Morgan, Russell; a brother, John Whitmer, Monte Vista, two sisters, Edna Thompson, Denver, and Mary Mead, College Place, 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pohlman's Mortuary, Russell, the Rev. Rick Thornton officiating. Burial will be in the Osborne City Cemetery.

Eleanor Smith, 71, Lakewood, died Wednesday at a hospital in Lakewood. She was born March 27, 1913, in Salina and graduated from Salina High School. Mrs. Smith and her husband, Chuck, also lived in Roswell, N.M., and Lincoln, Neb. She was a raember of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Lakewood.

Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Susie Martin, Lincoln, two sons, Jay, New Mexico, and Fred, Colorado; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Florence H. Richards SCOTTSVILLE Florence H.

Richards, 81, Scottsville, died Wednesday in the long-term care unit at the Mitchell County Hospital. Mrs. Richards was born April 13, 1901, on a farm near Asherville. She lived on a farm west of Scottsville until 1952, when she moved to Scottsville. She had been in the long-term care unit since 1980.

She was a housewife. She attended the Scottsville Community Church and was a member of the EXTENDED OUTLOOK Sunday through Tuesday Little or no precipitation. Cool Sunday, and moderating temperatures Monday and Tuesday. Lows in the upper 20s and 30s Sunday, moderating to the mid-30s to mid-40s by Tuesday. Highs in the upper 50s to mid-60s Sunday moderating to the mid-60g to low 70s by Tuesday.

Sherrill HUTCHINSON Mrs. Martha W. Sherrill, 64, Hutchinson, died Thursday at the Hutchinson Hospital after a long illness. She was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Assaria.

She moved to Hutchinson in 1956. She was a retired church secretary for the Immanuel Lutheran Church, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She is survived by a son, Rodney, Craig, a daughter, Julie Drach, Hutchinson; a brother, F.C. "Bud" Weeks, Hutchinson; two sisters, Sarah Hill and Helen Stone, both of Hutchinson, and two grandsons.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Pastor Larry Siebrands officiating. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson. to 9 p.m. today at the Johnson Sons Funeral Home, Hutchinson. Floyd M. Walker WOODSTON Floyd M. Walker, 79, Woodston, died Tuesday at the Solomon Valley Manor Rest Home, Stockton.

Mr. Walker was born July 25, 1904, in Mercer, and moved to Woodston in 1924. He was a retired truck driver and a member of the Assembly of God Church, Stockton. His first wife, Minnie, died in 1974. He is survived by his wife, Bessie, of the home; a son, Harold, Hays; three daughters, Flossie Okrucky, Gardena, Esther Enlow, Carthage, and Caroline Lynch, Downs; two brothers, Earl, Riverton, and Ivan, Pueblo, five sisters, Lois Hanson and Almeda Freeman, both of Olney Springs, Edna Duncan, Carval, Anna Crosby, Pueblo, and Wilma Henson, Riverside, 12 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at the Smith Memorial Chapel, Stockton, Pastor Ivan Christoffersen officiating. Burial will be In the Woodston Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Assembly of God Church, Stockton. Friends may call until the service at the funeral home.
