3 Man Fined, Loses License After Mishap Bobby Griffin, 24, of Spencer Rd. was fined $50 and had his operator's license revoked in City Court this morning after pleading guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident. Acting City Judge Michael LoPinto presided. Griffin was charged in connection with a two-car collision in the 200 block of S. Corn St.

at 2 a.m. Sunday. Police said that Griffin was traveling south on Corn St. when his vehicle struck a parked car belonging to G. B.

Kosrovshahi of 301 S. Corn St. Griffin continued on his way to the 100 block of South about six blocks from the scene of the accident, police said. The Griffin vehicle was found parked in front of 115 South St. at about 6:15 a.m.

In other accidents: -Tracey Willard of 114 Sears St. was charged leaving the scene of an accident in connection with a two-car collision at the corner of College Strings To Feature Russian Work The Ithaca College String Orchestra will present the Western premiere of a contemporary Russian work as part of a concert set for 8:15 p.m. Wednesday in Ford Hall. The work is a serenade, "Music for Strings" Opus 36 by R. Bunin.

Baker, 53, of 40 South Dryden, died Sunday in Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, after a long illness. Formerly of Cortland, he had lived in Dryden 12 years and taught social studies in the high school. Mr. Baker was graduated Cortland Normal School in 1936, received the B.S.

degree from Albany State Teachers College in 1941, the Master of Science and Education degree in 1965 from State University at Cortland, and permanent principal's certificate in 1968 from Cornell University. He was a member and past president of Dryden Faculty Assn. and had been its representative to the Board of Education and Administration. He was Senior Class advisor, was in charge of extracurricular accounts at the school and member of New York State Teachers' Assn. He was Town of Dryden Republican chairman.

Born in Cortland on June 8. 1915, son of Mrs. Agnes Miller Baker of Dryden and the late Harold D. Baker, he was a member of Dryden F. A.M., member and past master of Fayette F.

A.M., member of the Commandry of Scottish Rites and Shriners Club of Tompkins County. Mr. Baker was a member and past secretary of Dryden Kiwanis Club, member of Dryden Fire Dept. and Presbyterian Church and of Cortland Elks Club. In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, H.

Montgomery Baker of San Diego, nieces, nephews and cousins. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Kenneth Read of the Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Glen Cemetery.

Thomas Mrs. Ovajean Hailey Thomas, 81, of 1777 Mecklenburg Rd. died Tompkins County Hospital on Saturday, April 19, 1969. The widow of Chester Long Thomas, she had been a licensed practical nurse at the Reconstruction Home for 15 years, retiring in 1956. She is survived by a son, George W.

Horton ODESSA Mrs. Emma S. Horton of Odessa died Sunday, April 20, 1969, in the Ithaca Reconstruction Home. She was the owner of the Horton Funeral Chapel which owned and operated by her husband, the late Ray D. Horton, until his death a few years ago.

She was a member of the Odessa United Methodist Church; Nichols Chapter 175, Order of Eastern Star; Rebekah Lodge, Odessa; Schuyler County Historical Society, WatkinsMontour Zonta Club, WatkinsMontour Business and Professional Women's Club, and Cayuta Lake Property Owners Assn. She is survived by a brother, Andrew J. Huston of Worcester, and nephews and nieces. The funeral will be held at 1:30 Wednesday in the Odessa United Methodist Church. The Rev.

W. Garrett Judson will officiate. Burial will be in Nichols Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Bernice P. Andrews Fernow of Wilmington died here Sunday, April 20, 1969, after a brief illness. She was born in Jersey City, N.J. in 1881 and was the widow of Professor B. E.

Fernow, former head of the department of mechanical engineering at Clemson College, S.C. Both Mr. and Mrs. Fernow were 1904 graduates of Cornell University. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Mrs. Fernow was an artist of considerable talent. As a painter of miniatures, she was considered one of the best in America. Her skill in this line never diminished and her latest, painted in her 86th year, are considered finest. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs.

Russell B. Eaton, with whom she lived, and three grandsons, all of Wilmington. Private services and burial were held in Wilmington. CLIFFORD LaBOMBARD Marine PFC Clifford G. LaBombard Jr.

of Albany was killed in action near Danang on Tuesday, April 15, 1969 after six weeks of duty in Vietnam. Word of his death was reported to The Journal today by an uncle, Earl LaBombard of Enfield Center Ithaca. PFC LaBombard was born in Albany on Feb. 14, 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in July 1968 after graduation from Albany High School.

He received basic training at Parris S.C. and spent four weeks in Camp Pendleton, Calif. before shipping out. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Clifford LaBombard Sr. and a sister. Mary LaBombard, all in Albany; several uncles, aunts and cousins, some in the Ithaca will be a military service in Albany, with burial in St. John's in the Wilderness Cemetery at Paul Smiths, N.Y. Samuel M.

Cole DRYDEN Samuel M. Cole, 82, of 329 Cascadilla St. died in Ithaca Reconstruction Home on Saturday, April 19, 1969 after a long illness. He was born in Dryden on Feb. 5, 1887, son of the late George and Emmaline Miller Cole, and lived in Dryden many years prior to moving to Ithaca.

He was formerly employed at Knight's Market. His late wife Florence Cole, died in 1961. He is survived by a stepson, Burl Kimple of Ithaca and cousins. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Perkins Funeral Home in Dryden.

The Rev. Kenneth Read of the Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Charles R.

Adelson WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Charles R. Adelson of West Palm Beach and New York city, a Cornell graduate and board chairman of the Delson Candy died here Saturday, April 19, 1969. He was 76 en engineer earned at his Cornell degree in as 1915, a civil and in World War 1 served as a civilian with the Navy Department on construction of fueling stations for submarines and dirigible hangers. After war he became a president of Happiness Candy Co.

in New York City and in 1931 founded Delson. Survivors include his wife, a son and a daughter. Donald E. Bacon TRUMANSBURG Donald E. Bacon, 56, of Trumansburg R.D.

died today, April 21, 1969, at Tompkins County Hospital. Mr. Bacon was employed at Cornell University for 30 years where he was a supervisor in an experimental machine shop. He was a member of F. 0.

Eagles Lodge 153 of Ithaca. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marion M. Bacon, at home; a daughter, Mrs. Antoinette Springer of Trumansburg; two brothers, Arthur Bacon of Ithaca and Leon Bacon of Florida: three grandsons and several nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at'2 p.m. Wednesday at the Ness Funeral Home in Trumansburg. The Rev. Royal Filkins of the Jacksonville Trumansburg Methodist Parish will officiate. Burial will be in, Grove Cemetery, Trumansburf.

Friends may from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Frida Elsner Mrs. Frida Paulisch Elsner, 73, of East Berlin, Germany, died Monday, April 14, 1969.

Funeral and burial were there. She is survived by her husband, Richard Elsner; a son, Karl Elsner of Cortland; three daughters, Mrs. Johanna Boyce of Groton, Mrs. Martha Losch and Mrs. Eva Sritsche, both of East Berlin; and seven grandchildren.
