Backus Cast As Pirate Guest-star Jim Backus, as a friendly pirate, gets caught between Daniel Boone (Fess Parker) and three unfriendly pirates in a hunt for buried treasure, on NBC-TV's "Daniel Boone" Thursday p.m.). Portraying the pirate threesome are guests Ted "Lurch" Cassiday, Percy Helton and James Westerfield. A talking crow leads young Israel Boone (Darby Hinton) to the cave of pirate Will Scataway (Backus) just before another pirate, badly hurt, staggers into the cave with the treasure chart and dies. Scataway sees the menacing pirate trio approaching, panics and gives the chart to the bird.
