Sally Anderson, who was released from the execution of the death sentence br Judge Underwood, and afterwards rearrested by the Mayor, was, to Uv set free. The county authorities made no requisition for her, the attorney lor the county putting it on the ground that if the court made requisition for and executed her, it would be in direct disobedience to Underwood's decision, and it conld not try her again without conceding that all its actions since July were illegal and nugatory Gen. Stoneman declined to instruct the Mayor in the matter, and accordingly the prisoner was turned loose at. noon to day. The decision of Judge Underwood, under which she is freed, is that no jadge or clerk of court, disqualified by the fourteenth amendment, is now or has been since the adoption of the amendment a legal judge or clerk, and that proceedings of all the courts of which they form a part are illegal.

Yesterday's Afternoon Dispatches. New Yoek, Dec 29 The Herald has the following special, on the amnesty proclamation Much eonfuaion prevails as to the fall extent and operation of President Johnson's last amnesty proclamation, some people, and even good lawyers, supposing that it was not only intended to cover the cases of Jeff Davis, his Cabinet, and all persona guilty of treason excepted, from preceding proclamations, but that it should also work the release of Arnold, Mudd and Spangler, now Batterers at the Dry Tortugas, as accomplices in crime the parties who conspired for the assassination of President Lincoln. However the courU may construe the President's last amnesty, should it come np judicially, there seems to be no doubt that Mr. Johnson did not intend to extend the boon of pardon to any other than political prisoners or Mich people as had beon guilty of treason, and were either in prison or under certain kinds of disability. Under this view of the proclamation, Davis and his Confederate Cabinet would undoubtedly be relieved from further prosecution or disrbilities, and be restored to all their civil rights, except as curtailed by congressional enactments not in conflict with the constitution.

What portion of these laws are thus in conflict, is a question which, of course, remains to be determined by futura adjudication. Ntw York, Dec. 29. The Dominican Consul General in this city furnishes information to the effect that the revolution is ended, Uaez in peaceful possession of the whole country, and a railway company of Paris proposes loaning the Dominican Government six mil. lion francs, secured by a mortgage on Samana, its acceptance is Improbable, as Baez has devised a plan more beneficial to his country.

St. Charles Theatre. The rain Badly interfered last evening with the audiences at the various theatres. There was, quite a reppectable representation, however, at the St. Charles, to witness the performance of Mid Summer Night's Dream," which was produced for the third time.

The play went off very smoothly, creating the moet intense merriment and giving entire satisfaction to those who braved the weather to be present. In the ballet, Galleti distinguished herself, and quite carried the audience by storm. She is certainly a wonderful dancer or perhaps we would better express it by saying she is a splendid Terpsichorean gymnast and accomplished the most aatou ishing and difficult feats with apparent ease. ile Diana labored under the disadvantage of being compelled to dance with a stranger, Mons. Marvig being indisposed.

She danced, however, as beautifully, and looked as beautifully, too, as ever. Same bill this evening. In consequence of the great success attending the Christmas matinee at this theatre, Manager Pope announces another grand matinee for to morrow noon, New Year's Day, when it is expected that all the children in town will be present. Varieties Theatre. The inclemency of the weather last night was sensibly felt in the diminished audiences at the variouB places of amusement; but that it did not materially affect the audience at the Varieties, discloses a flattering appreciation of the Lancashire Lasa" bv our people. Marie Friederici'b German Opera. In unite of the inclement weather a brilliant concourse of attentive listeners were assem hied last night at the National Theatre, to creet the above splendid troupe of artists. And truly the high encomiums lavished upon their performances in all the towns they visited professionally, were ruiiy sustained With such forces Manager Gran can certainly Dass through a desolated country and still reap a golden harvest. Real merit will always be noticed and appreciated. MeBdameB Ziegler and Friederici sustained the respective characters of Marttca and Fancy.

They gave their roles so much to the satisfaction of the audience that the loudly expressed encores had to be finally neglected. Mr. Himmer's Lionel was a well rouuded performance. We prefer his representation greatly to Lotti's, who sang this part last year Messrs. Weinuch, Steinecke and liacn acted certainly in masterly etyle, and assisted thereby to give us a thoroughly well sus tained opera, in which no character was de fective, causing thereby a jarring of the gene ral harmony.

The choir and the orchestra, under Predi cram, sang and played with laudable precision To night Der Frelschutz," with the finest scenery ever seen here, for this special opera. Those who have never heard the bird like and yet powerful tones of Marie Friederici, we would advise to Ioee no time in securing tickets for the German opera this evening. Moet of the boxes have already been engaged, and the prospects are that the engagement of the troupe will prove an entire success, we cangiatulate Mr. Gran upon the bright, pros pect before him, and the troupe upon having 80 energetic and capable a manager. It is sel dom that so great a variety of attractions ara brought together under one roof as are to be seen at the Crescent City Museum. Added to those which have already excited the interest of the multitude who daily throng it, is now to be seen the Circassian beauty," a young lady who rivals the most celebrated beauties of her native land, celebrated in romance and poetry, and who have made the Blave markets of Constantinople distinguished in the history of the world. Here, too, is to be Been the two headed girl," one of the most remarkable freaks of nature ever witnessed the man who lives under the water, and who eats and breathes there as naturally as if he were in the open air; besides a numberless array of other curiosities which cannot be mentioned in a Binjgle notice. These embrace curiosities from every part of theworld from the ocean, the islands, and remote corners of the earth the mummies of Egypt, and specimens of stat nary from the ancient and modern world All that is rare and curious in natural uiatory is to be found there. In addition to all this is a unTendid menagerie, and the animals are a feature of no ordinary interest an aviary too, where a representative of every species of the faathered creation is to be found.

The people of our city ehould visit this place and take their children. Besides amusement it combines instruction. For an hour spent pleasantly, there is no place like Col. Ames's splendid museum on St. Charles street, in front of the St.

Pfau, Velocipede Races, etc. On Monday evening next the Hanlon Troupe, comprising as it does all the famous Hanlon brothers, with a host of other artists whose fame extends over two continents will open at the St. Charles Theatre for a brief engagement. No such combination of talent has 'ever before Tinted New Orleans. The Hanlons thenifieivc are too fan iliar to the public to neid tiny eulogium from ue.

They have heretofore in themiM ivee constituted an attraction which was aiways sufficient to. draw crowded houses, and even now the memory of their daring feats upon the flying trapeze causes the Mood to chill. The three Hanlon boys, ctor, Julian and Francois, are said to be the most perfect specimens of physical beauty, and are, indeed, the most wonderfnl miniature gymnasts. Everybody remembers bow New York and the people throughout the North generally ent wild about the achievements upon the flying trapeze, of a Russian gymnast named l'fau. The press rang with praise, and be was unhesitatingly yand unanimously pronounced the greatest living athlete.

The following description of his fearful leap, which we clip from a St. Louis paper, will prove interesting this act the whole hall is reqred as a ttage. Two long swings are Irom the ceiling, at eiual distances along the ceatro aisle, falling below the lloor of the galleries. Starting from a platform in the rear gallery, with his hand upon the nearest swing, he throws himself forward with a mighty bound, aiminflr to catih the round of the farthest swing, which has been made to oscilUte in mid air, hih above the heads of the people, he lets go his bold, spins completely around, and with a nice calculation of tiuid aud distance, which seems superhuman, under such circumstances, securely catches the round ef the third swing jur ou the instant that this, his only possible support, is almost leaving him apparently to fall to the floor with broken limbs. After passing over the immense area described by the second swing, he lands safely nnnn a biuh pedestal near' the orchestra.

Distance. heighLh and depth seem nothing to mm in this gigantic leap. We were first ehown the glassware, and very beautiful ware it ie, too; wine decanters, ens tard bowls, goblets, tumblers, wino glasses, pitchers, all of the most exquisite pat ems, light and airy enougn lor iaines to use, with the most delicate and artistic engravinir of flowers, lenvm and all sorts of quaint figures, eac 6eptate article being a miracle of design," and all of such pure crystal that the eve love9 to hncer upon them and the ear to listen to tie clear, silvery notes they give out when tapped with the finger. This glass fell comes from llaida, no bemia.

There was any quantity of fine French cut glass, but the French have never rivalled the Bohemians in delicacy of workmanfhip. There was also glass of domestic manufacture, cheap qualities, to suit the country trade. We were next shown the fine china depart ment. in which were any number of the most beautiful breakfinf, dinner and tea eets, all of the most modern patterns and some extremely costly, being elabora'ely enameled and paint ed. Almost all this fine china comes from Tjimoi7.

France. There are made those i graceful and ornamental vases, toilet set? which form a portion of the above de partment. Up stairs we were conducted through the department where the common china and etoneware are kept, aud noticed the packers busily engaged getting up orders and sending them down to be shipped to the coun try. Ou this floor we noticed a large pile of very pretty door mats, which, we were in formed, were all made in the prison at Wako field, (Weet Kidiug) Yorkshire, Eng. There are jrenerallv atont 1500 convicts iu this prieo'n, and the icstitution is enstained by their labor.

Here and there we noticed vast quantities of fancy articles and articles for household uep, such as fire otenrils, fenders, plated ware, ice itchers. butter dishes, etc. This house has a very large country trade and is one of the oldest and most reliable in thn conntrv.
