Popularity of Ike Shown In Area's Primary Voting The popularity of President Eisenhower was evident in primary returns from Tipton, Miami, din- his ouster campaign against Tfllet ton and Carroll neighbors of Howard County. The President carried all of them by wide margins as he did elsewhere in Indiana, and in each, county his showing was better than that of the lone Democratic presidential candidate. Sen. Estes Kefauver. The number of interesting races for county office nominations featured the voting in neighboring treasurer, Donald Exmeyer; coro- counties, and details from each county are given TIPTON TIPTON (Tribune Special) President Eisenhower had a 280 popular vote majority over Sen.

Estes Kefauver in the Tipton County primary Tuesday as 1153 Republicans and 1,088 Democrats cast ballots. The unopposed candidates wer nominated automatically. The are as follows: REPUBLICANS Joint representative, Robert Nash; recorder, Meada Griesel ner, Owen B. Johnson; surveyor Harrold E. Norris. DEMOCRATS Circuit judge, George R.

Landgrave; treasurer, Roscoe Zerbe; coroner, Alfred surveyor, Richard E. Plqthow; commissioner, 3rd District, Gerald Howell. FRANKFORT FRANKFORT (Tribune Spcl.) F. Hodgen, incumbent state representative from Clinton County, was renominated for that post in Tuesday's primary, defeating Harold P. Heavilon, 2,029 to 968, in their contest on the Republi- coroner, Howard D.

Thomas; sur veyor, Max K. Bowlby; commis sioner, 1st District, Erwon Davis commissioner, 3rd District, Fre Rode. DEMOCRATS Recorder, Hanna Doversberger coroner, Chester A. Morris; sur veyor, to be filled by appointment commissioner, 3rd District, Johi M. Cardwell.

PERU PERU, Special President Eisenhower polled more votes than anyone else in the Miami County primary. He go 2,998 against 55 for Lar Daly, his GOP opponent, and 2,370 for Sen Estes Kefauver. Harry D. Howard, Republican and Paul B. Rife, Democrat, were nominated for county commissioner in the 2nd Howard de feated Russell Barter, 1,695 to 1,246, and Rife won from Truman Yoder, 1,960 to 1,231.

The Republican winner for commissioner in the 3rd District was Elmer H. Miller, who polled 2.12J votes against 837 for his opponent, Paul Pugh. In the Democratic congressional race, J. Edward Roush carried the county. The figures were Roush, 832; Hillsamer, 808; Whitehead, 546; Smith, 528, and Himelick, 348.

Rep. John V. Beamer was unopposed on the Republican ticket, but his name was on the ballot and he drew 2,890 votes. Arthur Gossard, who is attempt- Ing to unseat Robert Tfllet as Dem- than doubled the count on Sen. Estes Kefauver, who got 83L The two hottest contests, were Court clerk and the Democratic race for county treasurer.

The clerk's race was won by J. Reid of Kokomo, with a 164-vote edge over Hoy Musselman. McCain's total was 1,083 and Musselman's 919. For treasurer, Gladys Young Woodrum won the Democratic nomination over Merlin Mullin by 194 total was and Muffin's 502. Robert A.

Ferrier won the Republican race for treasurer, defeating Charles L. Bell, 1,409 to 695. In the Democratic congressional race, John H. Hamling carried the county with 615 votes. His opponents received the following totals: rhurman Crook, 257; George Cushman, 154; and William D.

Jefferson, 135. Roy Conrad, incumbent state senator for Carroll, Clinton and White Counties, has almost a 2-to-l advantage over his Republican rival, Walter E. Bowen. Conrad's vote was 1,329 and Bowen's 720.
