(AP) — A war-born technique for the quick processing of radar photographs may simplify the detection of cancer of the stomach. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Perry of Memphis ivcrc the weekend guests Youth Confesses Slaying Farmer During Hold-Up > DETROIT, Nov. 9-liPI— A frightened 18-year-old youth told police yesterday that he and a prison pal fired the shots that killed George Schmidt, MaComb County truck farmer. William Roddy. 18, said his gun went off by mistake during the holdup atempt last Saturday, Detective Envin Schink reported. Roddy declared that Jacl: Roberts, 18, another of the four youths held in the shooting, fired first. The .22 caliber pistols used in the shooting were stolen from a. hardware store, Roddy said. Roberts -worked for the Schmidts three years ago- Later he was sent to prison on an auto theft charge. ' It was in the Detroit House of Corrections that he met Roddy, who was there 'for burglary. Schmidt was shot at the door of his home near Van Dyke Saturday night. H i s three-year-old daughter, Mary, was also seriously wounded. Schmidt was shot when he answered a knock at the door. His wife, Violet, reported that she heard someone s a y, "This is a stlckup." Roddy and Roberts were arrested Monday night. "I always liked Mr. Schmidt." \_Roberts said.
