Daily Record, Northwest N.J. Sunday, May 19, 1985 C15 SCHOLASTIC REPORT ScSiulef's 2-hltter leads I owistown to MQ1 win Pearsons a hit in SOIL meet WANTAGE TWP. The Pearson brothers, who helped Lenape Valley gain its first Sussex County Inter-scholastic League track title when it beat Sparta to gain a co-championship with Kittatinny, earned four gold medals in the SCIL Festival By ED MILLS Daily Record Staff Writer Postponements Three quarterfinal Morris County Baseball Tournament -j I 1 --v I if I t7? I. games were postponed yesterday because of the heavy rain that fell in the area late Friday night. A Somerset County Baseball Tour- Ji nament quarterfinal game was also moved back.

Tomorrow, Montville, the top seed in the tourney, will host ninth-seeded Hanover Park to- morrow, and fifth-seeded Randolph will be at home against 13th seeded Delbarton. On Tuesday, Parsippany Hills, the 14th seed, will travel to sixth-seeded Mount Olive for the final MCT quarterfinal round game. All times are 3:45 p.m. The Somerset County Tourna- ment game will be played tomorrow (3:45 p.m.) when Bernards plays at Watchung Hills. Marc Stollar (4-4).

The Colonials had just three hits. "Marc pitched the best game of his life today," said Morris Hills (11-8-1) coach Rick Losey. "I don't think he can pitch any better than that. And as a team, even though we lost, I thought we played our best game of the year. We played errorless ball on defense, and we were in it all the way.

Only a great pitching job beat us." Trailing 1-0, Morristown, which had lost to Morris Hills 5-4 earlier in the year, rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Chris Michel walked to lead off the frame, and then on a 3-and-l delivery from Stollar, Brian Fleury blasted a fastball deep into center field, just beyond center fielder Anderson's glove. Fleury ended up on third with an RBI triple, and then he scored the decisive run one out later on a rocket RBI single to left field by Vic Giroux. "I had a green light to hit, and I got it just where I wanted it," said Fleury, a junior catcher, about his big triple. "Lately, we've been hitting the ball hard right at people, but that should change.

We never stay down for too long." Young, who played an excellent game defensively behind the plate for Morris Hills, throwing out three of four Morristown runners attempting delayed steals, had both hits off Schuler. The Morris Hills junior catcher singled to center to lead off the top of the seventh, and went to second on Dave Vigorito's sacrifice bunt. But Schuler induced Kevin Jenkins MORRISTOWN For the fourth time in a week, Morristown's bats were silent. But for the second straight Saturday, Anthony Schuler managed to make up for his club's, lack of hitting. Schuler tossed a two-hitter to quiet Morris Hills, 2-1, in a Morris County Tournament quarterfinal baseball game at Lidgerwood Field yesterday.

Morristown, 18-5-2, will play the winner of Tuesday's Parsippany Hills at Mount Olive game in the MCT semis either Friday or Saturday night at Lurker Park in East Hanover Township at 8 p.m. A 5-foot-5, 135-pound ball of fire, Schuler raised his record to 7-0 in going the distance, striking out six and walking three. He gave up Morris Hills' only run of the game in the top of the first when Scott Anderson walked with one out. Jeff Rauh then hit what looked like a double-play grounder back to Schuler, but he threw it into center field for an error, putting runners on first and second. With two outs, Bill Young lined an RBI single into center field to score Anderson.

"Anthony struggled with his control at the start, but he made adjustments and battled instead of giving in to his surroundings and that's why he is a winner," said Morristown coach Harry Shatel. "He's a little kid in size, but he has a hell of an arm and an awfully big heart." Schuler beat Morris Knolls last Saturday, 4-1, in an MCT first round game, when Morristown could only get four hits. This past week the Colonials had four hits in a 3-1 loss to Parsippany Hills on Tuesday, and they had five hits in a 2-1 loss to Seton Hall Prep on Wednesday. Yesterday, Morristown couldn't solve Morris Hills starter and loser With no team title at stake in this athletes were after individual honors. Bill Pearson, a senior, won both hurdle events with times of 15.4 in the highs and a meet record of 55.0 in the intermediates.

He was also the high jump champion at 6-5. Kevin Pearson, a junior, won the discus throw at 137-11. The other Lenape Valley winners I were Jack Hay with a distance dou- ble of 4:26.0 in the 1,600 and 9:57.5 in the 3.200 and Michelle Shine in the girls javelin at 122-9. Hopatcong's George Rodriquez and Jim Covert were double winners. driquez won the 100 at 11.3 and the 200 at a meet record 22.9.

Covert took the shot 49-6 and the javelin at 182-11. 1 High Point Regional, the host school, had two boys winners with Jeff McDowell vaulting 12-6 and Dan Farley setting a meet record in the -400 at 49.8. Mike Guarini of Pope J. John won the 800 at 2:01.1 and the relay team was victorious. A pair of Kathys led the Pope John effort.

Kathy Frick won the 800 in 2:21.7 and the 1,600 in 5:17.8. Kathy won both hurdles and the rjong jump with efforts of 16 4 in the highs, 1.09.1 in the intermediates and 16-6 4 in the jump. Kelly Martin gave the host school a pair of sprint wins with 13.2 in the 100 and 26 8 in the 200. Teammate Chris Smart was the high jump winner at 5-1. Kelly Zukowski of Newton won the 400 in 59.4 and Sparta's Lynn Sandacz won the 3,200 in 12 09.6.

to fly out to short right field before Dave Wickkiser hit a hard ground -ball up the middle. Tom Brophy, Morristown's second baseman, ranged to his right and threw out Wickkiser to end the game. "Brophy is just the kind of guy you want it to be hit to for the last out of the game," Shatel said. "He is a tough, hard-nosed player who does his best work in clutch situations."
