Boy Choir Ends 8th Year Boys Spend Week at Rockypoint The YMCA Boy Choir has completed its eight year with their annual week of camping at Camp Rockypoint. During the past year the choir had 14 Christmas programs and parties. Their spring and summer section, which began with the show "Triple Treat" at Lock Kun Haven State Teachers College, was the "best ever," according to Director Barry Vannauker. It is estimated that 4,000 saw the boy's spring and summer programs, and that 1,900 witnessed the Christmas programs. In addition, the choir appeared three times-on Altoona and Johnstown television stations.

The choir earned enough money to pay their way to Camp Rockypoint, cover all expenses for "Triple Treat" and to pay the cost of their trip to the State Legislature where they presented a half-hour show for the General Assembly. At Rockypoint the boys gained an average of three pounds each. Their activities began at Knoe- foel's Grove July 30 where they enjoyed swimming and rides at the park. On Aug. 1 they went to the Clearfield Fair to present their last concert of the season.

This marked the first time the choir had ever been presented an outdoor concert in which microphones were used to pick-up and amplify the boys' voices. The fair manager was highly pleased with the choir's performance. There is a good chance that an invitation may be extended for the boys to return next year. Following the concert, the boys returned to Camp Rockypoint. Rain fell the next day giving the boys a chance to work at their camp craft.

Camp broke up Aug. 5. Tryouts for new choir members will be conducted during the last two weeks of August. Vacancies created by the graduation of a number of the boys will have to be filled. The tryouts will follow testing of present members.

Names of possible candidates are supplied by area teachers. The number of boys trying out for the choir has been too large, so candidates will this year be limited to those selected from music classes In these schools: Lock Haven, Woodward Town- dhip, Castanea, Flemington, Mill Hall and Bald Eagle-Nittany and Akeley. The new choir will learn a Christmas music program, and after the first of the year they will practice for the annual show that will be in three parts. These will be patriotic, spiritual, and this year the third section will be a minstrel show. The choir is sponsored by the YMCA.
