She's Tiny, Has Accent- She Gets Part in to Br CHARLES WITBF.CK Hollywood Jack Webb's True lor tomorrow, "Man With a Suitcase," needed a limber actress wilb a German accent who could fit into a normal sized suitcase. The show is on CBS-TV and Channel 12 at 9:30 p. m. Webb could fake the idea, but he decided to try and do it right. So the call went out for a small actress.

The German accent could be taught. The call was answered by Ger-l-n actress Erika Peters, a tiny, very well-shaped lady who has trouble getting parts in Holly-wood because of ber accent. She couldn't let this to by. She went out to Warner slipped into a black bathing- suit With white buttons and jumped into the suitcase. Leading man Bill Berrer snapped it shut and lifted the bag carrying 103 pounds of Miss Peters.

Erika didn't get claustrophobia or scream and came oat smiling. She got the Job. Miss Peters plays an East German girl who is smuggled out in the suitcase from behind the Berlin wall by her lover. There are a number of obstacles to keep the suspense up for 26 minutes as the girl sits in the case. Besides her accent and her ability to crouch in a doubled-up position, Erika is admirably suited for the story.

As Erika Knab she made 21 movies in Berlin, and, for a number of years, dubbed the voice of she said, "or bringing in Ue-sllk from Bangkok. And you should see the sheepskin nigs in New Zealand." Landing at the Fiji Island airport, Miss Peters had to wait two hours before getting transportation into town. This so disturbed her, she considered setting up a car rental agency there to clear up the problem. Erika only likes, ventures where she can promote or take a hand in decisions. "I hate investing where I can't do anything about my investment like the stock market," she says.

"I've lost money there. I'm not a friend of the market." Where does Erika get all her business sense? "I pick other people's brains," she said with a smile. "Yet I'd rather be known for my acting. But somehow people only want to talk to me about business." between West Berlin and Hollywood, bringing in Volkswagens. Since Miss Peters didn't have a used car lot or an agency license, she was soon forced to give up the practice.

With her imported car money Erika jumped into the automatic coin laundry business in Los Angeles, and this began to thrive under her touch. Now Erika is moving into real estate like the big boys and is about to put up an apartment house on hustling Wilshire Blvd. "You have to be right on the job all the time," she says. "Everyone wants my right arm." While the actress la ber ia fairly prominent, business keeps ber brain bopping. Last summer she took a trip around the world, principally to check on import-export possibilities.

"I was thinking about importing children's clothes from Hong Kong," Mickey Mouse in Cermany. Being a capitalistic animal, Mickey was later banned in East Berlin, but for a while he had great popularity. Erika says the East German government still owes her royalties for the cartoons, but she doesn't expect to ever collect How does she feel about the future of West Berlin? "I frankly think mo thing will happen Berlin," she says. "There may be aggravations maybe we might have to use aa airlift again but Berlin won't be bartered away." Miss Peters came to Hollywood five years ago to become another Marlene Dietrich. The accent didn't help her any and Erika landed, occasional roles as a French, Swedish or German girl.

TV AND RADIO REPAIRS ANTENNAS INSTALLED Great Britain's race problem, similar in some respects to racial problems in the U. S. South, will be explained on David Brink-ley's Journal Monday on NBC-TV and Channel 40 at 10 p. m. The program was filmed in Birmingham, England, which has the largest concentration of colored people (about 75,000) in the United Kingdom.

For the past seven years, immigrants to Britain from the Indies and Pakistan have arrived in great numbers in this period. Brinkley says the happy-go-lucky Jamaicans have clashed culturally with the staid, conservative British. School conditions in some locales are tense, he adds. Last July, a Commonwealth Immigration Act was passed which limited further immigration of colored people. Brinkley interviews two members of Parliament who explain their respective support and opposition to the bill.

Sir Cyril Osborne (Conservative) was for the measure and Miss Barbara Castle (Labor) was against it." Brinkley also talks with Allan Gibbs, liaison officer of the Birmingham Welfare Department, about the influx of Negroes in neighborhoods.
