CORNELL GIVEN SECOND PLACE BY TIMES CRITIC "The usual preface must be duly set down before the football observer ventures into the maze of a ranking of the eastern Yearns." says the football critic of The New York Times. "It is now the custom to emphasize three points: First, that the ranking is only the personal opinion of the writer; second, that the said ranking has been wrung from a reluctant victim by the demands of an eager populace; and, third, that the results are as unbiased as good Intention could make them, "In addition to thi3 traditional trinity, however, there are other points that might be made before one delivers an opinion on the merits and demerits of the college elevens. It might be said that the personal element of judgment is not necessarily the only factor in such a ranking.

There is no reason why the casual critic should toss the teams into a hat, pick out a dozen, sort them Continued on eleventh page.) 5LEEP And i For Man or Boy one gift which every boy and man will appreciate, is high-class Carpenters' or Mechanics' Tools the handy man, a really good or brace-and-bit will increase his range of efficiency 50 and save much money in jobs. the boy who tinkers, cheap, chosen tools will make him a good tools will give him and interest in his ability to things.
