Kuhner Scholarships MUNCIE Three Delaware County high school seniors received the Kuhner Memorial Scholarship, created by members of the Kuhner family for students studying in the fields of theology, food chemistry, engineering or related sciences. The scholarship is $1,000 and is renewed for the four-year college term as long as the student maintains a required grade-point average. The awards are granted on the basis of scholastic achievement in high school, the demonstrated ability to complete a college career and financial need. Recipients are: Jennifer L. The mural, Southside Savannah, was dedicated on Tuesday. Above it, a plaque gives the names of the special-education students who worked on the project. The biggest lesson of the project was learning how to work cooperatively, Watkins said. Usually, students work on individual pieces of art, but with the mural each had a task, and many times the students helped each other.

Working on the mural did help Shirley Njuguna, a junior, learn how to work better with her peers. She also learned patience, she added. "It teaches us you should always have patience," Njuguna said. I Contact news reporter Oseye T. Boyd at 213-5830.

Merit Scholarship winners MUNCIE Two students from the Indiana Academy for Science, Mathematics and Humanities have been named winners of National Merit Scholarships financed by colleges and universities. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship. Another group of Scholars will be announced in July, according to a press release. Indiana Academy students receiving the awards in the most recent round were: Eric D. King, Connersville, to study chemical engineering at Purdue University.

Buchanan N. Buchanan Canan a business where they make and sell gift items. For 10 weeks, students in Jane Sulanke's fourth-period class spent an hour a day working on the mural, which features a lion, elephant and gorillas. Sulanke watched students realize the potential each possessed. "That was the whole point to show kids what they can do," Sulanke said.

In the beginning, freshman Cierra Little was unsure of her ability to draw animals. Instead of having students imagine the features of each animal, VSA of Indiana instructor MK Watkins, who worked with the class, brought in pictures-for the students to draw from.
