News Briefs From OVER SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON Reunion Planned ABERDEEN Nearly 200 res ervations have been by the reunion committee of the Weatherwax high school class ol ilf40 which Is planning tho 20lh class reunion July 23 in Ihe Aberdeen Elks club. The response from out-of-town graduates has been very good, and the reunion committee urges local graduates of 1940 to send their reservations in immediately to Box 521, Aberdeen. Last Tuesday night class members met in the Elks building to paint signs and souvenirs for the reunion. A board will bo set up with pictures, copies of the Ocean Breeze and other class souvenirs. The reunion will include a cocktail hour, dinner and dancing.

Robert Skrondal will act as toastmaster, Rocket Hurts Boys OLYMPIA Five young rocket builders learned a. lesson about gunpowder and empty metal cartridges in a painful and tragic way here Friday night. Ricky Tarditf, 9-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tarditf, 824 North Roosevelt street, lost his left eye when a homo made rocket exploded, driving fragments of metal into Ricky and four other youngsters.

Doctors had young Tardiff in surgery for several hours before removing the eye which had been completely shattered by the fragments. He also had pieces of the exploded cartridge in bolh arms, both legs and in his chest. Also seriously wounded by the flying rrielal is Rickey's brother, Tim; 11 years old, who had four deep -lacerations and' 20 other smaller ones on bolh legs and arms. John son of Mr. and Mrs.

John B. Berg, 821 North Roosevelt street, had 50 small wounds all over his body except his face. Less seriously wounded by six to eight small pieces of the flying metal were Bobby Tardiff, 12, and Steve 10. The accident occurred shortly after seven o'clock Friday evening in the Berg yard. Lesson Flunked LONGVIEW-A Longview mother learning to drive Friday afternoon lost control of her auto and smashed into a light standard, injuring herself, her 12-year-old daughter and her husband.

In St. John's hospital today are Mrs. Homer Flemens, 48, 811 Columbia Way, and her daughter Sharon. The freak accident occurred at Nichols boulevard and 20th avenue about 5 p.m., according to Longview police. Flemens was treated for severe mouth lacerations and X-rayed for possible head injuries, then released.
