Miles' Restorative Nervine and Nerve and Liver Pills. At first the medicine seemed to have no effect, but after taking a few bottles I began to notice a change; I rested better at night, mg appetite began to improve and I rapidly grew better, until now I am as nearly restored to health as one of my age may expect. God bless Dr. Miles' Nervine." Dr. Miles' Remedies Dr.

After a long suffering of body and mind he announced in deliberate tones that the way was clear to his vision -he was ready to depart in peace.

Tol Harwell, as we were all wont to call him, was a sold man, a gentleman, and not 8 nonentity. He was a man of positive and fearless convictions and in the community of bie life he could always be found resolately on the right, side of every question, material, moral or social. There was less of the vasoillating bu man about him than is found in the most of us. Good fact, we feel that we pay our chum due homage and reverence when we say, he was loyalty, fidelity and constancy itself. Tol Harwell joined the Methodist church under the ministration of Rey.

S. R. Leater some eight years ago. He was a member of the I O. F.

fraternity. He was an accepted volunteer and promoter of every good enterprise for Centre-he was always among the frat to- give an unselfish service to the town that be loved and the friends that be adored. We have often beard men say of him that Tol was the logical candi date for this office or that 80 great and wide wee bis popularity, but be WaS never an aspirant. Every citizen should encourage the movement. DeWitt's Witch Hazel Salve has the largest sale of any Salve in the world. -This tact and its merits has led dishonest people to attempt to counterfeit it. Look out the man who attempts to deceive you when you call for De Witt's Witch Hazel Sale the great pile Johnson. Death of An Aged, Good Citizen.

The following special from Centre appeared in the Mont. Advertiser, 2d; Jobn Chancellor, a prominent and bigbly respected citizen of the coanty, died yesterday (Thursday) at his bome near Round Mountain. He tad passed his 81st birtbday and leaves a spotless record as an honest, industrious and upright Christian citizen. More than twenty million tree samples of De Witt's Witch Hazel Salve have been distributed by the manufacturers.

What better proof of their con idence in it's mer its do you want? It cures piles, burns, scalds, sores, in the shortest space of time. -Merchant Johnson, Successful Opening of the School. School opened Monday with something like forty pupils in attendance. This is a more propitious aggregate than the school bad at its opening last year, and every indication is one of better promise so far 88 the numericnl strength of the school is concerned. A goodly number of patrons of the enterprise were on band, and the impromptu delivered by Rev.

Frank H. Gardner was splendid. It certainly begins to look that the school will prove a big success. Mrs. Mo Whorter, of Gayleeville, mother of Dr.

Bob Me Whorter and Mre. Obarles Rattray died at the home of her daughter last Friday bight. Was interred Sunday at the Randle graveyard. RAGING RIVERS Creeks, Ramscrugeous Rivulets and Rills SEVENTEEN YEARS SLEEP Under the Sod, After Which the Coffin is Exhumed in a Good State. All the rivers, creeks, rivulets and rille have been upon a razzle-dazzle the past sennight or ten days.

But their height WAS attained Tuesday night when Coosa river reached the height of twenty feel above normal 1 water at the Garrett ferry, according to the guage. Some of the older inhabitants declare that the Coosa in higher now than it bas ever been their lot to see it in September; though some say that it was fully as beavy in 1839 and 1864. At any rate it is a record breaker for this generation and looked a sight in its mad rush to the seas. Melons, pumpkins and all manner! of growing fruits aud vegetation that could be floated from their beds in the river bottoms could be seen pass ing away with the current, to nothing of the corn, cotton and other products so near the barvest which is either submerged, or injured by the rise. The creeks have been bebaving no better; indeed, it is asserted that from its mouth to McElrath's mill Terrapin creek alone is over two or three thousand dollars worth of corn.

Whether this is to mean complete destruction to the unfortabate crops is to be proven, of course, but the prospeot is one of deep gloom. Bad as the inevitable seems to us, that is now upon us, still the cause for the effect is apparent to the ordinary observer. For the past five years, since 1893, it must be remembered that the dryest period ever koown existed, until some time during the spring months of this year the estimate was that we were 48 inches behind on rainfall. Nature usually meets one extreme with another; hence this is no unreasonable phenomena. The volume of water came from the rivers about and aboye Rome, of course, but the other rivers and creeks through this section have been whales within themselves.

It is safe to say that no man under road duty and poll tax age has ever seen the rivers, creeks, rivalets and rille fuller in September. Re-interred After Many Years. Mrs. Martba West and family went to Mountain Springs graveyard last Friday to exbume the remains of her eigbteen months old child, Carrie who was buried. Oct.

25, 1881. Uncle Elias Shook, colored, exhumed the coffin, to find it in a remarkable state of good preseryation. The objeat was to remove the remains to the cemetery in Centre to rest beside its father, W. H. West.

ing the coffin so well intact it was decided not to open it, but in placing same in the back the lid fell off cause of the rusted screws. All that was left, strange enough, was the TOME persons say it them is to natural lose flesh for during summer. But losing flesh is losing ground. Can you afford to approach another winter in this weakened condition Coughs and colds, weak throats and lungs, come quickest to those who are thin in flesh, to those easily chilled, to those who have poor circulation and feeble digestion. Scott's Emulsion of cod liver oil with hypophosphites does just as much good in summer as in winter.

It makes flesh in August as well as April, You certainly need as strong nerves in July as in January. And your weak throat and lungs should be healed and strengthened without delay. All Druggists, 50c. and $1. SCOTT BOWNE, Chemista, New York little shoes, the back part of the skall and a lot of feathers from the pillow.

The sboes were evidently in the position as they were left some seventeen years ago, except that the right was slightly -and the wee shoes appeared in a fairly good state except the mad--but the bead was lying in a few inches of the eboes, where it must have floated, The box about the coffin was also in excellent condition, and served amply to bold the displacement of the workmen while they were exhuming the remains. The coffin W88 bome-made, of rich pine, and showed little sign of decay. The velvet upon it was rotten, almost past recognition, but the sorews in the lid bad lost their hold.
