The colored man, Sherman Arp, who ie'eharged with the murder of Geo. A. Pogne, which occurred some time in July last, has been apprehended and is now in the Rome jail. He was caught by Jas. Wilder, of Rome, near that city, and does not deny the charge, but gives the names of two other negroes, Alf.

Glenn and Ab. Dixon, who Arp says, are acces sories to the crime. The latter named darkies have been arrested and lodged in jail here, but sheriff Moore, of liome, refuses yet to give up Arp to the authorities here, as he (Arp) claims he fears lynching if brought into this section. Considerable interest is being manifested in the matter, and Sheriff Blair and Deputies are ont in pursuit of others, white and black, who are charged with being impli cated, Tbe Cherokee Medical Society will meet at Centre, on Tuesday Nov. 3rd 1891.
