Cowan Junior-Senior High School High School COWAN Seniors at Cowan Junior-Senior High School graduated during an 8 p.m. candlelight ceremony May 25 in the school's gymnasium. Valedictorian was David Ray Smith, with a 3.983 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale. Smith was the senior class vice-president, and a member of the student council, National Honor Society, science club, foreign SMITH language club, the math and science academic teams and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He has received numerous awards including the Mary K. HAMILTON Garr and Creviston scholarships and the Indiana University Valedictorian, Presidential Scholar and Ball State University Presidential Scholarship awards. Smith, son of Cindy Linn and Dave Smith, plans to attend Kelley School of Business at Indiana University and major in business administration or finance. Salutatorian was Elizabeth C. Hamilton, with a 3.965 G.P.A.
